Pandemic Holding Pattern

      So, now it's May, it has been a nice spring, much gardening underway. Since Trump left I painted several paintings and then focused on a bedroom renovation, taking out the old carpet and painting the room navy blue, very Regal!!! Then I was onto garden work so I haven't been focusing on news which has made me a better and happier person too. Biden is doing very well, with a 65% approval rate, there are loads of stupid nonsense from the Republicans but I think it may work out, who cares anyway? its not even my country! Because of continued bungling from Jason Kenney Alberta has the highest covid infection rate in all of North America, even beating most other countries too!!! Great job! I think it's from the under 40 crowd who cannot stay at home. My neighbour sent me a pic of himself in a crowd at an outdoor beer garden, right before things got bad and we had another lockdown. I don't care if the Kenney government thought it was allright for this kind of behaviour, they also believe strip mining the Rockies is a good idea or Doug Ford is a great guy to form an alliance with, it shouldn't take much to know by now that large crowds even outdoors weren't a good idea! Now we are on a lockdown until the end of May, no school, work from home if possible, restaurants closed only delivery now, but it's kinda late and now we have rates into the stratosphere. It is likely hospitals could be under a severe crunch, elective operations are cancelled again and we have seen in Ontario where they have asked the nation for any nurses you can spare please, I think only Newfoundland sent some, we're too nervous in Alberta of running out of our own.

Worldwide India is finally having a surge, having to let people die because there is an oxygen shortage, It's hard to believe it took this long, what with 100 people per square foot I was wondering for a long time why covid wasn't killing millions there!? India is now second in the world, USA still #1 !!!, but India has new infections in the 300,000's and deaths in the 250,000s far out pacing the US at 28,000 new infections and deaths at almost 600,000, world wide we are at just over 3 million deaths, I thought it would be more by now actually.

Biden is doing well getting shots in arms but now the problem is knuckleheads who either don't want it for political reasons or don't believe in vaccines because they read a meme on facebook once. So insane, who ever would have thought we would be devolving into anti science stupididty in the post Space Age??? We have to get tough with these people, stop them from travelling, flying, attending large events, sports, stoppping them from voting would be the best idea!!!! LOL unfortunately since Trump lost so badly Republican states everywhere are trying to stop people from voting, since it's the only way they can win, we'll see, Biden may have a surprise for y'all when the time is right!

We got our shots a few weeks ago, YAY! I was getting really angry as it was getting close to our turn, they were up to 1964 birthyear and then everyone panicked over the Astra Zenica vaccine causing blood clots and the rollout got paused for several weeks. As a sidebar, there are more clots from birth control and Covid itself, not to mention the odds of dying from covid as it is contagious while blood clots are not, duhhhhhh. So, the best advice was to sign up at your pharmacy and wait for the call, which we did. When they did open vaccines to my age group, in a 15 year group which was not fair, it had been in 5 year groups before, and I was so mad saying "they have always done this to our generation!" we managed to get our shot in a most unusual way. Gord was talking to his cousin about renovations and they had heard from his brothers girlfriend on facebook that there were shots available at the convention centre, so when Gord looked there were actually a few hundred spots available, there was nothing in the media about this, apparently you just had to have the right connection on social media, this is how we run our health system? Ok? It was a beautiful spring morning, we took the bus downtown, the whole thing took maybe 20 minutes, it's hard to believe something like this would run smoothly, please tranfer this talent to airlines, motor vehicles, and the CRA! The shot is incredibly small and over in seconds, not like a flu vaccine which is a lot more juice! I felt tired and a little run down the next day but no blood clot so there ya go. About a week later I got the call from the pharmacy so I guess I was getting upset for no reason as usual!? Now I think we're back to banning Astra Zenica because one woman my age died, cripes, how do we know she wouldn't have died anyway? Shit happens but the danger of covid far exceeds the risk of a small amount of blood clots, weigh the risks people. Now the vaccine rollout has been completely unfair with a focus on getting shots to the Native population for reasons I do not understand, they do not spur the economy, or at greater risk than anyone else, is it because we were mean to them? Well, we were mean to a lot of people including the gays so lets get some sane policy. Turns out the biggest outbreak is in the Wood Buffalo district due to oil companies not using precautions for the rig workers, like meat plants, these companies are money focused not people focused, they were letting 100's of men have lunch together with no masks, it's criminal but hey it's Alberta not some communist country you fucking snowflake!!!

Anyway I still think most of us will be vaccinated before the fall and then we can return to normal, all my neighbours can go back to work, back to all tomorrows parties and world travelling, why learn any lessons? 

One Year Anniversary!!! Pandemic Journal

      It was one year ago today the WHO declared Covid a Pandemic, the world went pear shaped and Gord's dad died in the hospital ushering in a whole new era. Things are looking so positive now in comparison, my age group can start booking vaccines soon (unless we run out then I don't know what happens!) rates are going down since the Xmas surge and even in the US Biden is getting shots in arms, almost 3 million a day, it sounded nuts, impossible, back in the Trump era. I think we're all looking ahead to this summer, it seems like all the gloom and doom about vaccine supply was just media blather and we keep approving and receiving vaccines, I think we're up to 3 different kinds now, maybe 4? Biden has passed his landmark Covid relief bill, badly needed cash money for poor Americans mostly so queue the Republican outrage, just remember that this 1.9 Trillion $ is a ONE time expense compared to the Trump tax plan which was a 1.5 Trillion $ hole in revenue annually and nothing compared to the estimated 6 Trillion $$$$$ for the Iraq war, give me a fucking break!!! 

     The weather is so much nicer this year adding to the positive vibe, last year although warm when we left for Saskatchewan stayed cloudy and fucking freezing around -20C wind chills for the rest of the month and into April! God damnit that was depressing, the world in lockdown, the death of my father in law fresh in my mind and a never ending vortex of cold and cloudy weather, I will never forget that time.

     The Jason Kenney hits keep coming, such a terrible government all the time! Vaccine rollout went terribly because folks over 80 don't know what the internet is, like the 85 year old character on SNL recently who said "computers? I use one to play Spider Solitaire" yeah, that's about how that went, so everyone jammed the phone line of course, it was a terrible rollout, disastrous according to local media. My mom says she got a vaccine but it's hard to say for sure because if she did it would be a much longer and complaint filled story, so I am skeptical as she deflected by telling me stories about her sisters getting the vaccine instead, she's not one for Dr.s. Today Covid total cases in Alberta 137,137 and 1,933 deaths, not quite the 2000 club yet, I thought we would reach 2000 a lot sooner actually.

     I know everyone is anxious to get back to normal life, yacking about their stupid lives, buying, eating, shopping, travelling, exploiting, consuming, you know the suicide pact we are all in with consumerism and corporatism?, but I don't mind the lock down at all. We have been working from home and we rarely go out in normal times so it doesn't affect us much. I enjoy we don't have airplanes interrupting the peace every 3 minutes! It is hard to have a conversation sometimes in the summer I tell you! I wonder what the bounceback will be like, I can't imagine how the juvenile minds of most everyone under 40 are going to react, maybe like drunks on crack? Is my guess. It's going to be funny or infuriating at the least. I have recently returned to painting as American politics are no longer a complete circus side show, or was it a freak show?, and thinking about the future.

 

Inauguration!

           I've watched Presidential inaugurations since Regan I think, I'm not sure how, was I supposed to be in school? I don't know but in the old days we somehow still saw everything just with regular TV. The only one I skipped was Trump's, I watched some of the painful meet and greet at the White House but retreated to the basement for the next 4 years after that! It's maybe a little odd how a Canadian loves this American tradition but we don't have anything like it and I just love them! I love seeing the politicians interact, what they will wear, who will perform etc, it's so wonderful! This year Trump slunk off at dawn, hoping for a big military sendoff, which I don't know even happened, and flew to Florida before noon. Good riddance you son of a bitch! Hope your future is filled with jailtime and the entire Trump family has to live in exile! That morning I had to drive Gord across town so was listening to Bidens speech on the radio on a beautiful clear morning with almost no traffic, coasting down Crowchild to Memorial letting the words fill a brand new era, it's quite nice, I recommend it, like an extended car commercial or offbeat movie. Of course I taped 4 hours of it too, it's worth it to see flawless Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga who was not only walking the red carpet but wearing one too! You know she said no to Trump 4 years earlier! Ha ha. We also had J.Lo in all white like the latina angel of unity singing This Land. The poem by 16 year old Amanda Gorman was the most beautiful thing you have ever heard, as if she will take the reins of Maya Angelou herself at this young age! I kept thinking throughout the different moments and scenes of the day the now very famous images of the Capitol riots, where everyone enters the balcony is where police were assaulted with American flags, we could see many interior shots where only days before nazi riff-raff were acting out and you could even see a shattered window on one of the doors into Congress, this is still very fresh in all our minds right now! But democracy has prevailed, although I think it was pretty close and pretty easy to overthrow if you ask me! Later we had the 3 ex Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton make statements, to me they seemed like superheroes, like normalcy has returned after 4 years of insanity from that old supervillain! There was no parade because of covid and fear of nuts I guess but Biden did walk a block or so up to the White House, it was all very beautiful and the world feels normal again!

     One thing I love right now is that QAnon believers are adrift! They believed that Trump would succeed in the end, all the military would turn on the inauguration and the rightful king Trump would ascend to power, so that didn't happen. I saw a reporter talking to a QAnon guy who isn't sure what to believe right now but is pretty sure the election was a hoax anyway, sheesh, your stupid social media stories are all made up lies you dumb fucks! This is exactly like so many kooky Protestant religions especially in the 19th Century that preached the end of the world at a certain date and when that passed and nothing happened they would usually change the date, you do lose some followers though. Think of the Jehovah Witness cult who used to believe a certain number of people would be allowed in heaven and then they had to change it as history progressed and numbers of believers increased, ooops! Experts say the bad part is that they, QAnoners may glom on to neo nazi groups and other extremists. A nuts part of all this is how some experts liken the Trump nuts to radicals in the Middle East or Afghanistan and how you would have to infiltrate their society to get people to believe facts, to deradicalize them. Yes we are talking about your nutty relatives on facebook as if they were the Taliban and that is not far from the truth right now! It is a refreshing new world however with trump banned from most media, the witch is melting, what a world, what a world!

     One thing I am glad Trump did not do is pardon the Capital rioters, I wonder if they will feel betrayed? they should! He did pardon something like 150 people including Steve Bannon who can go back to sleeping in cars instead of going to jail and Jeannine Pirro's husband for I don't know what but she bellows about the greatness of Trump on FOX and he loved that! I hope the pardons are all overturned, it's all just obstruction of justice and this power should be removed from presidents all together! Trump has an impeachment trial looming and there is reason to hope for the best, McConnell has signaled his support for impeachment and really all that needs to happen is for Republicans to not even show up and it's done! A vote of 2/3 of the Senate doesn't mean all of them, it means of the ones present, so it could be done. I think the more Trump talks of things like a "3rd party" the more Republicans will want to put the preverbal pillow over this guys head! A 3rd party would make democrats in charge for decades! I still think Trumps best plan is exile but he needs so much attention I don't know how that would work, but jail on the other hand? This guy has never faced consequences so it is going to be a thrilling time for Trump haters out there!

     The world just seems so much nicer now, the first foreign phone call will be to Justin Trudeau because Biden seems to love Canada and had a great relationship with Trudeau in the very short time the two admins overlapped. So guess who is down in the dumps over the new President? Kenney of course! Turns out he invested $1.5 billion in the Keystone Pipeline and Biden just cancelled it yesterday! So now our local media is all gloom and doom over this, can't we be happy for 5 minutes? Geeze! Democracy was just saved from the grips of a lunatic and the world can return to some sort of normalcy but we should all hate this because we put all our eggs in the Keystone basket!?!? God damn you Albertans! They act like my middle sister, if anything good happens make sure you make it about yourself and shit all over the good news! We don't have to worry about Trumps mercurial nature anymore, I'm sure the softwood lumber tariffs will end and that's good news for some! I hope they rescind the new NAFTA thing Trump worked out, all of his stupid legacy should be wiped out! I also think it's funny Obamacare survived, after all his efforts to destroy it, ha, screw you loser!

The Social Dilemma

      This weekend I watched the documentary The Social Dilemma, it should be watched by everyone right now! Available on Netflix, this is a compilation of todays architects of Social Media and it explains everything wrong with the world right now! Basically these people tell us exactly how they designed social media to be, addictive, money making, self feeding loop machine that is destroying our minds and society. All of the platforms like facebook, instagram, youtube, twitter are all designed to keep you engaged and we see this illustrated in the documentary with a fictional family much like yours. In the fictional family the son bets that he can stay off his phone for one week, but he can't, much like 99% of all of us, we eventually see how he gets lulled into attending a rally and getting arrested, sound familiar right now??? We sorta know how things like facebook and twitter are designed to give us positive feedback, but this show really illustrates how this is designed for the corporation not you dummy! The only industries who call their customers "users" are drug dealers and social media, let that sink in! If someone has watched a conspiracy video on youtube they will suggest more videos for you, and since everything is so linked up more and more gets suggested to you thru all the medias and suddenly you are inundated by garbage and living in your own bubble believing the Earth is flat, vaccines will cause autism, airplane contrails are poison or Trump won the election. We have not really experienced anything like this in history and it is dangerous. The experts in this documentary think it could take 20 years to bring down society and it is the only thing I disagree with them on as I believe it is already happening and could take from anywhere between 20 minutes and 20 weeks right now! Most of these people are successful optimists afterall, give me a break! You need to think the worst first my dears! The Social Dilemma just clears up so much with what is going on in the world right now and was made before the Capital riots, watching it now you can see where this led to just a couple of weeks ago. This morning on CNN Kate Bolduain who really could be as stupid as she looks was pondering why the Capital riots could happen, are these people deficient, gullible, easily led? No they are just like you and me, they are everyone, they cannot resist the human wiring that social media is tinkering with and we are probably all variably susceptible to. There has always been shithead troublemakers like neonazis jumping on board any movement they could in history, we saw the idiot motorcycle gangs at Altamont in the 1960's and neonazis in the Punk Rock era, they will insert themselves where ever they can so of course jump on this QAnon train too! This show also explains how Russia did not "hack" the 2016 election but merely used what was already there, it is true, the first time they really did try hard to infect social media but now do they even have to do anything? It is all just so dangerous to democracy everywhere and this is what China and Russia want. I think it is the greatest threat to democracy since WWII and what are we doing about it?

     Does it seem like you are hearing about a lot of youth suicides these days? You are right, I was just listening to congressman Jamie Raskin who buried his 25 year old son right before the Capital riots, suicide, we recently learned a beloved news anchor in Calgary also lost 20 his something son to suicide, and there have been many more. The Social Dilemma illustrates for us clearly that rates of suicide are increasing at an insane rate since 2010 the inception of smart phones, the stats are something like 78% for teen girls and 168% for preteen girls. They use an example of a preteen girl in the movie that really works, posting duck face photos, getting a lot of likes except one friend says something about her ears, so now she is obsessed about that. I can only imagine how true this could be especially for preteens. It's all just so terrible for establishing normal coping mechanisms in youth. A very poignant part of the movie is when all the inventors of social media say they wouldn't allow their kids on it at all, saying maybe when they are 16 or 17 they would allow it! I just don't know what more people need to hear. We have heard many times before how social media is the same as alcohol and drugs, it affects the brain in the very same way, it's just so dangerous for children, we do not say hey hard time in Junior High, here have a drink! That would be ridiculous but many people do the very same with all this media, it is not harmless!

     So, I don't know what more needs to happen in the world, I thought the Capital riots should be a major fucking clue for the world, if not the election of god damned Trump in the first fucking place!?!? Now there is a woman elected to Congress who is a QAnon nut, where will this lead democracy ? I can only imagine students learning about this era, the US Capital was stormed because people truly believed that Trump won the election even though there was no evidence of this. People were brainwashed by Social Media so much they could not and would not believe logic. If we are on this track, that we cannot share and understand concrete facts then we are done as a society, democracy is over, capitalism is over and welcome the new Dark Ages I guess. Get off facebook, watch more TV, talk to a friend on a phone, what? imagine using a phone as a phone?

Impeachment Deux

      So, Trump got impeached again, first President in history to be impeached twice and with 10 Republicans in the House voting yes, twice the number who voted for Clintons impeachment and more than zero the first time for Trump and Andrew Johnson in 1868. Now, when will that trial be? No one is sure but many believe it should be put off to a later time so Biden can get on track, it would be fine as we only want the result which is barring him from running ever again and cutting off all the Presidential benefits including a $200,000 a year salary and a $1 million travel budget as well as Presidential briefings. It would be wonderful to remove him right now but that doesn't look realistic believe it or not right now. Right now Trump is so mad at Giuliani that he doesn't want to pay him, a common Trump reaction, but who will be his lawyer now? Dershowitz? The guy who was closely associated with famous pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, yeah, lets see how that scandal goes, we may have all these guys in prision within the year!

     Many new stories are coming out this week, it's hard to think of a time when a scandal or event got worse over time but that's what's happening with this insurrection. We see lots more video with sound which is showing more of the scary and violent nature of the insurrection, we see eye witness accounts from members of Congress, staff, media, etc who were there, hiding, terrified. We hear reports that some Congress members were giving tours to weird groups of people the day before, so much so some thought it suspicious enough to report. If we find out this is true, collusion from Republicans, Pelosi says they will follow the law and prosecution if necessary. It's pretty crazy fallout! We hear reports that some Capital Police may have been in on it and among the rioters we find a guy from the US Olympic swim team, active and ex military and police, such a disgrace. Many of the main instigators have been arrested including the most recognizable idiot the self described QAnon Shaman in body paint and horned headdress (nice appropriation dude!). Turns out his mom is concerned that his tummy will be upset if he doesn't eat organic food! Sheesh, I though we were the organic snowflakes? WTF? I just see this as another symptom of a generation who all won a prize, coddled by their parents and teachers, never hearing the word no or facing a consequence. This generation does not live in reality thus they consume vast amounts of RPG games, Superhero movies and BS conspiracy theories and here we are folks! Speaking of social media, Trump got suspended from Twitter and now releases weird hostage style videos from time to time, at first Google suspended downloads of right wing trash site Parler on the Play Store but then the entire site went dark so this is a small victory even if temporary. Most of us are worried Trump will lose his mind not tweeting? Awww I got suspended from facebook for far less so yeah life sucks, your life will be better off without it believe me!

     So now no one will be allowed in Washington on inauguration day, the National Mall is closed to the public, even AirBnB cancelled all reservations for the week in the DC area, the public is behind this and Trumps approval has hit 29% an all time low for him! The Capitol is now home to several hundred active duty soldiers who are sleeping in the hallways of Congress and there will be tens of thousands of National Guards at the inauguration, just try it nutzies (nazis + nuts).

     Shit, only 5 more days of Trump now, we hope he won't pardon all of these nuts but some are wondering if an impeached President can pardon anyone anyway, this has never been tested in court!? I hope not, I want all these freaks to be prosecuted and sent to jails to meet all the nice black men who reside there, they will get raped by black cocks and that is the worst kind of cock to raped by!

Fallout

      The fallout from this weeks insurrection keeps getting worse for Trump and the Republicans and I really wonder how this week will go for old Mitch McConnell? 5 people have died in this coup attempt 4 dipshits who likely deserved it and one Capital Hill Police officer who was bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher, only today did the White House fly the flag at half mast because Trump is a total asshole. Yeah Mr. "I am law and order" who always said the police were on his side, give me a fucking break!  More and more terrifying footage is coming out now, an officer nearly crushed to death was shown on CNN about every 10 minutes on Friday, now they have footage of another officer being beaten nearly to death on the outside steps and so much more footage with sound which is chilling. Events are moving quickly too, the House has written articles of impeachment and will pass them tomorrow or Tuesday, 2 Senate Republicans say they would vote yes on impeachment, Murkowski of Alaska who says she may not be a Republican anymore and Pat Toomey and who knows there may be more by tomorrow, I really wonder if the tide could turn and McConnell is pressed to do something this week!? Public sentiment could really spin out of control as this is the biggest thing since 9/11, Republicans better watch out! Right now McConnell says he would schedule impeachment for January 19th, one day before inauguration, he's such a douche, we'll see!

     One completely maddening thing about this era is that by that evening or soon after the right wing idiot machine of FOX News and the rest of their ilk started saying that it was Antifa who were responsible for the riots. It's just insane, we have so much evidence any moron can see for themselves and yet here we are. Turns out though that those actually responsible, mostly Q Anon and White Supremacists want the credit and are getting pissed off with these right wing liars! And I think they should watch out too, these people have no allegiance to you, they want destruction and will gladly take you down too Tucker Carlson! In fact we are now seeing these angry types accost Republicans like Lindsay Graham and Mitt Romney in airports for not helping the coup, they may be more mad at Republicans than Democrats right now. We have also learned recently that the crowd was chanting to kill Mike Pence and that Pence is currently "furious" with Trump. Pence had his entire family and brother at Congress that day and they were all put in mortal danger. So now Trump has blown his only chance at getting a pardon from him, so much for Art of the Deal? With an increasingly isolated President this promises to be another crazy week. A lot of the Trump cabinet has resigned already including Mick Mulvaney who claims he didn't know it would get this bad, this seems to be the excuse d'jour for Republicans on the Sunday shows today. They just didn't know Trump was so bad or would come to this, yeah right! 

     I heard CNN's Van Jones ask is this the beginning or the end? It's hard to say, there is already so much internet chatter about an armed demonstration next weekend and on inauguration day. The infuriating part is that the FBI cannot monitor the internet for hate speech or insurrection planning from just anyone, you would have to mention jihad or be a Muslim for that! That's right folks White Supremacists are not monitored at all because all the laws about this were written post 9/11 and is just another shining example of American racism biting them in the ass. The inherent racism is astonishing to me I heard one example of some one overhearing a woman say to her husband "why are they shooting us? they're supposed to shoot black lives matter not us!" truly amazing and another reason why I have fucking had it with talking to Americans ever again! But is this the end of these idiots? A lot of them are my age, middle aged, but a lot of them are also very young men who look in their 20's to me. Is this a moment or is this a lost generation? I'm all for work camps after all they love the Auschwitz logo Arbeit Macht Frei or work shall set you free. I don't know, this may be continued fallout from the shift from industry over the past 40 years, America has so many inherent problems, I believe more socialism would help the most, compare to Canada my dears!

     Who knows what will happen this week, Trump is the turd that is taking 14 flushes just like he complained about with low flow toilets no too long ago. He has ruined his legacy and family name and will live in a hell of legal problems for a very long time. He is planning on hiring Giuliani and Dershowitz as his lawyers, I'm not sure how old Rudy can be his lawyer as he is actually a subject in inciting the insurrection, on that morning he said to the crowd "...lets have trial by combat" where we saw some idiot in a video with the IQ of Homer Simpson get really charged up over. That morning where the President made a speech from behind bullet proof glass saying he would march to the Capital and then disappeared with the rest of his criminal family to watch the riots at the White House. And lets not forget Ivanka tweeted "go patriots" and the rest of them on video cheering on a riot, I hope they are all taken down in this and spend their lives in a living hell of shame from the public.

     Americans are naturally a little slow so this has taken a few days to sink in but don't worry as Churchill once said "Americans will always do the right thing after exhausting every other possibility."

Insurrection Live!

      Wednesday January 6th 2021 started off on a happy note, the Georgia Senate runoff elections were set to be finalized and both seats went Democrat giving Biden a majority and full leeway with his first 2 years at least, the Senate was set to formalize the Electoral College vote with some shenanigans from stupid Republicans who said they would challenge the count. Now, challenging the count is like challenging the announcing of the Academy Award winners, it makes no sense and the announcer has no say in it, in this case Mike Pence. We also knew that Trump sent out a message to his supporters to riot at the Capital. By around noon Eastern time Mitch McConnell said the right things and urged his Republicans to fall into line, likewise VP Pence also said the right thing and was roundly condemned by Trump on twitter of course, the formal process was trudging along boringly until Arizona with the help of Ted Cruise for some reason putting a wrench in the process and causing the Senate to recess. Apparently before I was up Trump made a speech to the thousands of domestic terrorists on his side, they then marched to the Capital building where Congress and Senate meet. Around this time, before noon my time, protestors had breeched the Capital steps and had made it to the balcony right outside the Senate chamber itself. The secret service rushed Pence out on live TV and soon the CSpan cameras went out. I began texting Gord at work, not something I do normally, this is only saved for breaking news of historic proportion, they went like this 12;32 "Protestors breach Capital steps, Pence evacuated, Senate floor in a tizzy 12;34 Huffpo says some protestors outside Senate chamber, 12;44Now watching Trump dipshits wandering statuary hall with flagpoles, So insane!, 12;47 Only a few police, where is the national guard? 12;54 Senate being evacuated Trump backtracking lame shit about respecting capitol police, 12;58 Now senators are clutching gas masks but not everyone has one, staff etc. 1;06 Senate doors are barricaded, senate police have guns drawn, members are huddled and praying, 3;14 Finally they are tear gassing these fuckers as they mass on inauguration balcony, the Virginia national guard is on their way apparently. I had to download a live news app to keep listening as I walked the dog today, I didn't want to miss a thing, it is history, apparently nothing like this has happened since the war of 1812! It wasn't until the afternoon that we got images of trump idiots smashing windows inside the capital, sitting in Nancy Pelosi's office, feet up on desk, leaving a message on a manila folder " We will never give up" footage of these white goons chasing a lone black capital police officer up the stairs into the inner chambers, dipshits taking the Senate dais shouting "Trump won" and hanging off the Senate chamber cornice 7 feet off the ground. And where are the police, there were a few standing around but not very many. Many were saying if this were black or Muslim protestors there would be a very different reaction. We had protestors gassed in Portland and gassed outside the White House under Trumps command and for these actual violent dickheads they get nothing!!!!!!!!! It is so infuriating! There was a little gas and flash bombs to get people off the inauguration steps, where Biden will be sworn in in 2 weeks. Many of us hope that the vote to formalize will still go on tonite, it has to, it has to be a message to these terrorists that they will not succeed! It's so nuts even my mom called around 4pm to ask if I had seen the news, I went on a swearing tirade, I wonder if she understands my passion? I doubt it, she is confused and not on the right side of government employees taking trips to Hawaii of course, old conservative brains have no moral compass, this is how they have maintained power especially in Alberta. I think Trump must be impeached ASAP, tonite would be good, sear in the two new senators and it is done! I fear trump will pardon these terrorists and this must be stopped. Did ya know being impeached bars one from running for any public office in the future, boy that would throw a wrench into his 2022 election grift! Oh, before I forget, Ivanka tweeted her support to the "American patriots" earlier that day and then mysteriously deleted it, we should never forget!!! I wish people would storm the White House as I believe that would garner a bigger response than what we have seen today, I'll bet the tear gas would be flying in minutes! People could also storm Trump hotels and properties, burn them down! These are my own violent fantasies, only a reaction, not a reality. As of now, 5pm Pence is consulting congress to restart this electoral count. Many are saying the Trump backers like Ted Cruise should step down and they should, they are a big part of the stupid nonsense! I tell ya, there is going to be a huge reckoning in the aftermath, just like 9/11, they were caught with a sub par reaction. I maintain to this day that the only conspiracy on 9/11 was covering up the slow and stupid reaction, made worse by never believing something like this would ever happen. There needs to be a commission report by congress in the future, questions about today are where is DHS (Homeland Security) acting AG?,Defense secretary? all MIA. The most infuriating thing is watching all these dipshits milling around as a curfew has been called for about an hour ago! No one is being arrested, just police standing around like stupid assholes, if this were black folks they would have been all violently arrested and dispersed! America is a disgrace!

We're All In This Together, Pandemic Journal

      My mom always says to make a wish on your first mincemeat tart of the season, an ole English tradition I expect! I'm not going to say what that wish was but Sunday night is when all hell broke loose on the Kenney government. We are rarely treated to political outrage in this Province but I wonder if times and demographics change? Turns out 6 Kenney cabinet ministers have been caught taking holidays, mostly in Hawaii, but some other sun spots too, the hypocrisy is stunning and is making the hashtag "Kenney resign" trend on Twitter. It's just all too delicious, we haven't seen outrage like this since the old Allison Redford days. Just remember that our provincial guidelines called for people to only spend Christmas with our household members, no college kids or grandkids, no grandparents over, no socializing even outdoors, who knew these self-involved total assholes would be jetting off to holidays in the sun? Sheesh, we aren't even having a harsh winter, who needs to go anywhere, to be with Americans? No thank you! The outrage in the media is heartening, people have set up Christmas trees with Hawaiian leis outside MLA offices saying "Aloha, it means hello and goodbye", people are so creative these days! I even saw one old guy say he is not voting UCP again! To top it all off, like a scene out of Arrested Development or Veep, we saw on both local news a story of a boy with rare terminal disease who missed his trip to Hawaii thru Make A Wish Foundation to see the Ocean because of the pandemic, I mean you can't make this stuff up! Even my mom, who I think wishes Kenney was her son instead of me, is wavering on supporting again! But, for all the stink this is causing only one MLA is resigning, the rest have only been demoted and keep their $120,000 annual salary. The outrage doesn't stop there either, some Federal MP's are also in trouble, a few Liberals, a NDP who went to visit a sick mom which I don't have a problem with, and quite a few Conservatives. The public hate being told to suck it up while our government takes holidays in the sun apparently. To bring this closer to home, Gord's sister is planning on going to Florida this week, we all think not much of this move including his mom who think's this is "disgusting" and she is right. This travelling government scandal has me thinking that anyone who travels should be shunned. Why aren't you supporting business in your own city and country? I think these people should step aside for vaccines and pay their own hospital stay if they get sick, if you can't stay in Canada then quit using all  our public health care! I have little respect for these people. I sent a text about the Alberta situation/outrage, it's actually a dig at the sister, who used to be an Ontario public health official who should know better! So selfish.

     As for US politics, today is voting day in Georgia, it will determine the Senate control for Bidens term so we want a good outcome! Tomorrow the Senate votes to formalize the Electoral College vote, it is procedural but 13 Senators say they will vote against it and muck up the process for several hours. It's absolutely stupid as there is no mechanism to overturn the Electoral College, it's just more attention seeking from Trump and a vote for ending democracy and instilling a dictator instead of following the will of the people, and we will have you on record forever. Do as you will idiots! In recent days a Trump call to the Georgia Attorney General has been released where he threatens and insists the AG "find 11,280 votes", it's basically what he was impeached for and what Adam Schiff warned us of, basically that Trump will try it again and here we are! The Trump days are winding down fast, and soon they will be history, geeze this month is flying by already. Tomorrow Trump is trying to start a riot in D.C., telling his supporters to flood DC and not bring guns. Like most Trump ideas I'm sure this will not be as big a deal as he hopes. We just had a letter signed by all 10 living former Defense Secretaries including Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld and even Trump appointees Mattis and Esper warning Trump to not involve the military in any election shenanigans citing dangerous and unconstitutional territory treading, don't worry Trump won't read or respect this!

Anyway, this is taking too long, the weather is beautiful, who needs a holiday? And I need to get back into a routine. I am feeling positive about this year, Trump will be out, Kenney is on the ropes and winter is one quarter done! Mazel tov!

No Rest For The Wicked, Pandemic Journal

      While I have been lulled into semi hibernation with Christmas lights, darkness, and more turkey than most people on this planet have access to in a lifetime the news takes no holiday! The madness of King Trump continues it's stupid path into infamy, just as Dems and R's struck a deal to aid the millions of unemployed Trump comes out and says a $600 payment is not enough for the public and he wants $2000, it's nice and great and all but Mr Art of the Deal seems to know nothing about deal making, such as being present while deals are being struck. It came out of left field days after the deal was announced and a government shut down looms with the passing of this bill as well. Many, including me, believe Trump is mad at Mitch McConnell for accepting reality and acknowledging Bidens win, fine by me, go down attacking your own party, that makes sense. In the background of all this the Georgia Senate runoff elections will decide the fate of Senate control for the next 2 years! Win 2 seats and Biden can do as he pleases, lose one and Senate control remains in Republican hands and thus years of more gridlock and stupidity of getting nothing done! So ole Mitch is in a real pickle, will he press the Republican $600 deal or let his Senators vote for Trumps (and Democrat backed ) $2000 deal? And keep in mind the Georgia candidates are for Trumps plan, now throw in Bernie Sanders. Turns out Trump hates the new military budget, because he is on Russia's side? and threatened to veto the bill but the house members have voted enough to override his veto but Sanders is threatening to hold up this vote until the Covid relief bill is passed. I tell you American politics are more drama than a god damned soap opera! But wait there's more! Because the US system is so insane, they have to vote again to formalize the Electoral College in the Senate, it's been a dumb formality up until now as Trump thinks if he can get enough Republican Senators to reject the reality of the election they can overturn the actual vote and leave a vote for President to the Senate which he would win. It would be the end of the worlds oldest democracy and become the beginning of A Handmaids Tale, it's very scary how close the world is to the nuts taking over! There is one Senator who is already on board and maybe more to come. It probably won't happen this time but Trump has laid out a path to end democracy in the future, elect enough crazy people and this could easily happen! On a sad note a newly elected Republican congressman has died of Covid at the age of 41, he had a wife and two small kids, so sad, this should be the biggest story of the day but it's not! And I would like President Piece of Shit to say to his widow and kids that "Covid is a hoax" or "nothing more than the flu" also note that we have recently lost singer Charley Pride from Covid.

     As for the pandemic, on the eve of vaccinations comes a newer stronger more contagious mutation from the UK and of course it's already showed up in Ontario, BC and Alberta because self centered assholes cannot stay home for Christmas. I knew this would happen! As Canada tried to quickly close its borders the new strain was already here, surprise, surprise! As I walk the dog I often see the giant KLM flight right over my head, bringing people from Europe for I don't know what reason!?!?!? Stay the fuck home, Christmas is all BS anyway, there will be time enough to see people again. I find that people never really change and you can pick up where you left off like you've never been apart, don't people know this? I doubt it, people are so stupid these days! So we are up to 1,028 deaths in Alberta and over 15,000 in Canada, the US is over 300,000 so there's that! Kenney is at the bottom in a poll of pandemic handling at 30% approval among the Premiers, too funny! We had my mom over for Christmas, this is allowed according to the Provincial guidelines, and my biggest takeaway from her 86 year old mind is that "Kenney should find a partner, maybe he would be a nicer person" like Kenney being gay is something everyone knows and we're now using the word "partner" for gay relationships! Who knew we would ever get to this place with her???? There may be hope for the world yet!

     As for New Years Eve, tricks on you Covid! Turns out for maybe the last 20 years my New Years consists of watching CNN at home anyway! I don't have friends or go to parties anymore! LOL Most of the time we are lucky to be awake by midnight! The current thinking is that 2021 will automatically be better, as if 2020 was cursed, but the shit show will go on a little longer I'm afraid and the consequences of Christmas are yet to be seen. I'm not too happy with vaccine roll out plans, in Alberta the focus is rightly on essential workers, nurses and such but not EMS which is infuriatingly stupid! The next group is old people in long term care and I'm sorry but WTF!? Please give it to the people who work with them first we don't need to put these old folks ahead of others. I believe people who work in public, of all ages, should be vaccinated, then by risk and age, people who can work from home do not need it right away either. This province is also focusing on inoculating the First Nations first as well, my mom (longtime Kenney supporter) is not pleased with that and neither am I, I thought this place was about the economy? Not humanitarianism? Color me confused!

Well, I just learned that Dawn Wells, MaryAnn from Gilligan's Island died of Covid at age 82, that makes me so sad, we met her once in Calgary, I will tell you about that one day, what a sweet heart she was, I'm not usually sad about celebrities but this one really hits home!!!

Serious Shit, Pandemic Journal

      One week before Christmas, my mothers Birthday, she's 86 today, and a fair amount of things to do which is making me testy! My Dr. thinks now is the time to experiment with blood pressure drugs, yeah, over Christmas time, I am getting really tired of all the Muslim Dr's I have had over the years who seem to have no understanding of Western society, yes we drink, have gay sex, celebrate holidays without fasting, gawd, I'm looking for a new Dr. in the new year! Our friend and best client Orme passed away recently, from many many medical issues, he was one of the richest people in Saskatchewan they say, is having a virtual funeral today! God damn does it have to be today? Id like to do some baking today, who has time for this?

     Anyway, I don't know if it's the new drug I'm trying or the news making me so angry today but lets just cover some of the Trump shit show today.  Apparently there are thousands of doses of the new vaccine just sitting in storage because the Trump administration can't get it together, they have no excuse or reason for this but are "looking into it" says Alex Azar Sec. Health/Human Services. Yeah, BULL SHIT! I think we know that Trump is deliberately trying to fuck up the roll out of the vaccine because he is a petulant asshole man baby who probably has it out for the entire country right now. Another issue is the Russian hack, I mentioned it earlier but it is far worse than thought even a few days ago. Turns out they have been hacking since March into almost all US departments including Energy which is the nuclear bomb agency! We have also learned they have hacked into many US corporations and many more organizations in the West including those in Canada, people are calling this an act of 21st century war. Trump has nothing to say about this, busy with a golf club up his ass I guess? He is also busy blocking Biden from getting Pentagon updates during the transition. If it's not apparent that Trump is a complete traitor who actually hates America then the entire Republican party should all be exiled with him somewhere, Guantanamo Bay? Only Mitt Romney has the balls in his magic Mormon undergarments to say anything! If anyone ever deserved to be led to the guillotine in history it is Vladimir Putin, I hate this son of a bitch so much, I hope he gets everything he deserves when America comes back in the Biden years. I think NATO should take Crimea back, FREE CRIMEA! you deserve it Putin, the only thing that stops these shameless assholes is to neuter them, kick em in the proverbial balls and those balls are Crimea in this situation. Another stupid thing going on in the US is aid for the population during covid. Aid is set to expire at the end of this month, people will be evicted and have no unemployment benefits because this is how they deal with people, well Republicans anyway, they are soooo close to a deal, it's insanity to those of us who live in normal countries! Like Trump I believe all the Trumplicans (Republicans who follow Trump) are guilty of criminal negligence, on the virus, on hacking, on destroying democracy, on all of the stupid shit they did supporting this wanna be despot!

We also see today Pence and his beard, I mean wife, getting the vaccine, really? I can see the VP getting it but why on earth does his fat bitch of a wife need one for? To keep spreading homophobia in her Christian school? Give me a fucking break! How much do you wanna bet vaccines in America will be directed to Congress and the super rich before people who actually need it, especially blacks and latinos? I'd bet the farm if I had one!

How's it going in Alberta? Shiiit all the government dorks are standing around taking credit for the vaccine of course, that Trudeau approved. Yesterday we had a record death toll of 19 in this Province, and it's all due to bad government just like the US, India, Russia and Brazil, consider the similarities.

Christmas, Get Over It!!!

      People around here were getting ready for Christmas back in November, the millennials who have taken over my neighbourhood are apparently really into the holiday this year! My other neighbours who I get to observe like a zoo exhibit of "Straight White North American Homo Sapien" because of our window proximity, began watching Christmas movies, women's fantasy type romantic dramas where the girl always gets the impossibly handsome and perfect man, around November 1st! Then I would see some Christmas decor going up, then the outside lights, and I would say to Gord "I think a Christmas tree is going to be born soon." and sure enough a few weeks later I was right! Even my other neighbours who I consider much more normal in most ways put up their tree in late November! Sheesh, I don't like Christmas that much, I don't want all that stuff around for a god damned month! To me Christmas is sentimental, I enjoy the foods, the lights and the music for a very short period but the actual meaning of it, the religious part, is about as important to me as the Myth of Osiris or Zeus, interesting and pretty weird mythology. During this pandemic lockdown a lot of young people feel like they are missing out, we already saw them going nuts for American Thanksgiving earlier, this generation needs their parents and other people to share all their dumb existence with. They need to be at home with their parents so they can stare at a phone for 20 hours a day! I think they are nuts and need to get the fuck over it! There will be more Christmases and fun times in the future, let me tell you about my worst Christmas ever you young whippersnappers.

     By the year 1987 I was 19 and living on my own because I was disowned for being gay, this means no contact with your parents and I feel I have to stress that because many young people don't seem to get this point. I had already met Gord my life-partner in the summer and he was attending college out of town 50 miles away and I was living with a nuts lesbian couple and a self proclaimed witch/fortune teller in their basement suite storage closet in the Beltline area, hey we all have to start somewhere! My friend Triste somehow got me a temporary Christmas job at the Body Shop in TD Square where I made gift baskets and totally sucked at shipping/receiving in the back room, sometimes I got to help in the store too! I tell you downtown at Christmas time is a magical time, the decorations, the hustle and bustle, the prettiness of historic 8th Avenue, it was fun, my favourite job in so many ways. Christmas Eve in retail is also just too magical, it's like the last day of school and we all get to look forward to at least one day off! Most of that day was probably just screwing around and I remember we were all invited to indulge in refreshments by the TD Square Corp. which meant going to some strange storage area of the building where you could have a drink with some maintenance guys. I was far too young and too gay to be hanging out with some middle aged janitors but I do remember looking out the window to see it was snowing and heavily! Many times in Calgary it snows heavily and magically right around Christmas even Christmas Eve, it's so god damned magical you could just shit! By the time our day was over we walked home in all that fresh new snow, it had been dry and bare up until then all November and December, so beautiful. 

At some point I made plans with my other friend, Lori, to go to her relatives out in the mountains for Christmas dinner as I was going to be alone, disowned, orphaned by my real parents. Loris parents were always so nice to me thru High School, I spent many days and nights at their house, they were like my second parents. I wasn't really thinking about what the reality of a disowned Christmas would really be like, I don't recall specific details because this is so bloody long ago now but I do remember the feelings. Gord was off to his parents in Saskatchewan so I didn't have my new boyfriend and love of my life around. What I mostly remember is the uncomfortable couch in that basement suite I was sitting on as everyone slipped away to do holiday things with their families, first the lesbians were off, Deanne was the nicer one and Shauna was a nightmare of a human being, so many issues, not missed by me on this day, she later became straight and hated all of us and we never saw her again after 1989. I was thinking oh right, people have families, I forgot. I remember talking to our other roommate Erica who was a pretty good palm reader/psychic, sitting together on that terrible couch, she was always nice but like so many young people in the 80's had a hard edge under that sideways mohawk and intense scrolling eye makeup, she had to go to her family later too. Really no one was going to go out of their way to help me thru this lonely void. Mostly I just remember sitting alone on that couch, I don't think I watched TV, did we even have one? Did I listen to Depeche Mode or something? I don't know, I do remember the song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas from this time, it still reminds me of this time of my life. I remember phoning Lori to ask when are you picking me up? Oh later, was the reply. I was hurt, I thought I could go over for more of the day, they didn't show up until almost 3, it was almost dark. We drove to a small cabin in the foothills where some relative of theirs was hosting Christmas dinner, it was nice, weird, not my family but fun anyway. Lori had already prepared me with a lie, she was always lying, it's what she does, if anyone asks about my parents just say they are in Arizona, which I did, probably not convincingly! This was not my favourite Christmas! Mostly I felt alone and betrayed by most of the people I knew and understanding that people are more self centered than we ever want to believe at that age, I wasn't really that important to other people. Hard lessons, I guess Dolly Parton would call it a hard candy Christmas!? The next year I was in Art College and Gord and I lived in a cute apartment in an old house which was probably one of the best Christmases ever and I would never be alone for Christmas to this day. The point? You'll get over it. It is important to go thru things like this, this was character building! Every moment of our lives is not perfect in fact it is often fraught with harrowing bull shit. The young people of today drive me nuts, they are such whiney babies to me, they want to be with their parents way too often which I find bizarre! Go, make your lives, build experiences of your own, there will be plenty of Christmases in the future! God, we have had 32 Christmases since then, most of them I could barely remember now, what gifts were given, what dinners consumed, drinks drunk? I tell you young folks, in 2050, you may look back on this year with scattered memories but you will have better ones, so many better ones to look forward to, one bad year will be forgotten easily. Consider it character building, it's what life is made of.

     

Twas the Week Before Christmas, Pandemic Journal

     Its about a week or so before Christmas, the first two weeks of December were in the 10 to 15C range making it one of the longest double digit spells for December, I kept saying to Gord in my best Mr.Hankey voice that "It sure doesn't feel like Christmas around here." December 6th I wore shorts and a T-shirt to walk the dog and later hung out with the neighbours on their front lawn as they were having a socially distant gathering with some people they know, some drivers were really glaring as they passed and the next day Kenney announced new restrictions, guess it was this gathering? The millennials are so funny to me, later my quite drunk neighbour was telling me how much he "needed" the social interaction, geeze, life must be hard for the young!?

     It's quite nuts that a few weeks prior Kenney was shirking new restrictions and then suddenly abouts-face and introduces a bunch of new restrictions which don't really have any teeth, so the impression of restrictions without really doing much. It's stupid but apparently so are most Albertans! Indoor dining is cancelled, gatherings of more than 10 people outside are not allowed and everyone who can is supposed to be working from home, so lets see how that goes! The death rate is escalating wildly, 10 or so everyday, we are now up to 744 and Global News and CTV (CFCN) do their very best to bury these numbers as they fumble thru reading numbers and throwing out confusing visuals of numbers that are different everyday, I can't follow their graphics and numbers how can my octogenarian mom!? Some stupid facts from a stupid population; we need to have 70% or more get a vaccine to attain herd immunity and Alberta has the lowest rate of immunization willing folks at only 66%  and Kenney will change the Health Code to remove mandatory vaccination! It makes me so furious, I just can't believe how stupid and ideological this little prick is, I guess it shouldn't surprise me? And then they go around saying that everyone else is being ideological, it's so Trumpian! Fuck! I just want to say that getting over Covid is linked to the economy stupid!!!! How are we going to recover with these idiots at the helm? And if Albertans are going to act like stupid Americans then fuck you all too! I tell you one day I will leave this stupid place!

     What's going on in the last episodes of the Trump show? This week AG Bill Barr is either fired or resigning, some people calling his letter a hostage statement, and just what is Trump up to? Probably trying to enshrine an investigation into Hunter Biden that the incoming AG will not be able to stop. We have seen this before from nutcase Republicans with Benghazi, stupid nonsense that was a waste of time and money and this Hunter Biden thing will be the same. Trump thinks he will get revenge, whatever turd, fuck the fuck off! I firmly believe Trump may not be with us in 4 years, he strikes me as the kind of guy who would die on Christmas day! You know Trump famously does not eat most of the day going over 14 hours and then likes to chow down on two Big Macs and a Fillet-o-Fish with small chocolate shake eaten within 5 minutes! Ever see Jordan Klepper try to eat this and do his monolouge within 5 minutes? It's inhuman! Big news yesterday is that Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell congratulated Biden and Harris after the electoral college did their job and voted but unfortunate for the little turtle man is that Vladimir Putin beat him to the punch that day, what a fucked up world! There was much drama and stupid nonsense with Republicans threatening violence and trying to crash the electoral college voting places, some were moved to secret locations. It just looks like a nuts shit show and embarrassment for the "world's leading democracy", these dwindling days of Trump cannot go fast enough! This week also saw a Russian hack of several US departments including Treasury and the Pentagon, I guess under Trump they better do what they can before normalcy comes back! The Russians make me so mad, I would be totally for NATO taking back Crimea, FREE CRIMEA!!!! and or some real consequences, getting kicked out of whatever international bodies they belong to, seize foreign assets, outlawing their currency! Fuck you Putin America is coming back! The best way to sum up this time period is by listening to former McCain campaign head Steve Schmidt "there is now one pro-democracy party in America and one that is for dictatorship" it's true I don't know what the hell Republicans are still thinking getting behind this personality cult that is Trump but they will find themselves on the wrong side of history soon! Lesser countries would have traitors shot at dawn! In a moment of "holy shit the monster is destroying the lab now" we find out that Jared and Ivanka have bought a 300 million$ property in Florida and she may be planning a Senate run in 22 against guess who......? Marco Rubio! LOL she is going to primary him and I just wonder how the Republican powers that be think about this??? How far will they let these Trump people go? I don't even believe the Trumps will survive legally for very long and may find themselves living in Saudi Arabia soon! We'll see!

     Since the first of the vaccines are rolling out we are being treated to multiple first vaccines footage, so boring you will be reaching for that remote control faster than a greased goose in a hen house! First in the Western world was old people in the UK, save the old! Turned out that Canada got the vaccine the same day as the US so much more footage of all that, over here we are vaccinating nurses/essential workers and old people later. So I guess all that hot air in Parliament from Conservatives was just that? Yeah, thought so. I don't know, I kinda wish the pandemic would linger a little longer, I don't think anyone has learned their lesson, especially Americans. I don't really support giving most Americans the vaccine at all, maybe we would all be better off ? Surge Upon Surge, Pandemic Journal

      The pandemic gets worse every day, Dr. Fauci in the US is warning of a surge upon a surge after this Thanksgiving that saw millions flying and driving home, myself I would love an excuse like this to avoid a family gathering but people are so goofy these days! Alberta continues to see huge increases in cases, mostly due to bad governing. So, in the middle of a pandemic and with vaccines on the horizon Kenney says that he will change the health code so there will no longer be mandatory vaccination! It's another pull your hair out scream into a pillow situation once again with this little shit. Kenney also made some racially charged comments about the SE Asian community saying that they have too many big family gatherings, guess he never saw the Waltons??? Everyone should know now that Kenney is just a mini Trump, with an emphasis on mini, I'm so mean, sorry. And what was the fallout of those secret recordings? Nothing. Our media does not care, Global News chose to focus on the who of the secret recordings and not the content of those recordings, CTV a little less biased but in both cases this story disappeared where in most cases we have to see the same reports 2 or three times more. I swear I saw a story about the ferret society of Alberta 4 times in a week when I moved back here 20 years ago and this is the way it is with most stories in the media, thank goodness for PVR's! The axing of mandatory vaccines is what really gets me mad, the irony of this little prick hiding behind Pierre Trudeau's Charter of Rights and Freedoms is nauseating as well his (and many on the right) claims to personal liberty and freedom. Well my dears you should remember what country we live in! Canada does not have a Bill of Rights as many dip shits out there seem to believe, yes we have all the liberties of normal democracies but our Charter is more focused on minority rights, aboriginals rights, the rights of groups of people rather than US style individual rights, it's not our focus, never has been. I have had arguments with online Americans who think Canada is not actually free because we aren't allowed to spread hate, I just say what the fuck is wrong with you people?, if you need to spread hate or incite violence to minority groups then I am glad and proud we do not allow this in Canada and consider it a crime not a personal liberty issue! Sheesh! Same with vaccines, you do not get to decide, you are probably not a virologist or even have grade 12 biology, so why do these people think they know better? We need to have herd immunity because there are people like babies or on chemo who cannot have vaccines. This is how we stopped so many diseases before, but most people weren't around for polio, rubella, small pox. What is most concerning to me is all the anti-maskers in this city, it looks like hundreds as they protest outside City Hall this weekend, among the largest protests we have ever seen in Calgary! I used to think we weren't so stupid in this city but now I have to wonder if the person next to me is some anti science nut. So we've got that happening and we also have a bunch of kids out of school now. We recently saw footage of throngs of teens crowding Chinook Centre, mobs of black kids getting into fights (just an observation) wearing masks but really you know these little fuckers are just there to hang out they have no actual business there and should be all kicked out. It is fine to go out with a mask, get what you need and go home, we are not at a place where we should be indoors with literally hundreds of breathing humans, this is why we have such high cases. Kenney did not want to shutdown before Black Friday and security cannot kick out all these black teens because it will become a Black Lives Matter shit show so here we are. Albertans gots ta shop!

     American news is pretty boring these days, Trump remains largely silent, Biden releases different staffing picks, lots of women, black women, women of colour. A mysterious assassination of Iran's top nuclear scientist smack of the dirty work of Israel and Trump, Iran is vowing revenge and I hope it is the Trump family in their sights, don't hurt innocent Israelis' or anyone else. All pundits eyes are on the 2 runoff elections in Georgia, right now it seems contradictory for Republicans to say vote for us the system is rigged! Why would people vote in a rigged election? It's weird and difficult messaging for an election. I guess the overall issues are that trump is trying to make the world a total shit show for when Biden takes over, it's disgusting, undemocratic, evil and just plain shitty, no President has ever behaved like this before and I hope they throw the book at this asshole when his term is up!

     Vaccines are just around the corner and the big issue in Canada is when will we get them!? We do not manufacture them so are not first in line and 3-2-1 queue Conservative outrage, because this situation would be different if they were in charge???? Give me a fucking break (something I seem to be saying on a regular basis these days)! I think it's disgusting that the Americans get the vaccine first, a country that recently pulled out of the WHO and would like to pull out of every worldwide organization too, also a country that did not contribute one god damned dime to the world wide effort for a vaccine! The 500 Club, A Pandemic Journal

      As of yesterday Alberta reached the milestone of 500 deaths due to covid and it would seem this is all due to the Kenney government. States of Emergency have been formally declared Provincewide and in Calgary as well. The only new restrictions and actions are closing schools early and opening one week later in January, some capacity restrictions on stores some capacity restrictions on churches but only in the larger centres, so basically nothing really, mask requirements in Calgary and Edmonton but we already have these in place! The whole thing is giant smoke and mirrors show as no Provincial mask mandate has been issued because Kenney is too scared of the rural backlash and too mired in ideology himself. Kenney himself has said "we cannot be led by dangerous ideology" like what science? public health? I have said from the very beginning that this little twerp is dangerously ideological, in fact his ideology and practices in this pandemic are more similar to Republican governors like Rick Desantis of Florida and even Trump himself, more worried about economic damage (and thus political damage) than human lives. In fact we are just learning today about secret recordings where we can hear Health Minister Tyler Shandro and other conservatives pressuring the Public Health authorities in ways that are "combative and not collaborative", in other words Kenney was more worried about the economy than the public health. The CBC article where I first read this also accused Kenney of hiding behind Deena Hinshaw when he didn't want to appear too tough on restrictions. It's nuts, this guy and conservatives in general are such fucking idiots, overruling the experts and micromanaging Dr. Hinshaw herself and this is where we are folks! At an average of around 1,500 cases a day we are close to matching Ontario and Quebec who have populations 3 or 4 times that of Alberta. I just think well, it's likely your voting base Kenney, reap those rewards. The only unfortunate thing is that our next election is almost 2 years from now. Kenney is an anti-masker in the mold of so many Republicans. OK so just now listening to the live comments of Hinshaw who is saying the recordings are a betrayal of the "safe space" between the government and public servants, she is taking Kenneys side in a way, and I just want to scream into a pillow as these non-political idiots have no idea! They are Dr.s not pundits they have no concept of politics and really most of the time are total doorknobs, Gord's sister is a former public health official like this, such a Polyanna and enabler of the bad behaviour of her husband and father, these people are not schooled in the humanities or history, they have no clue about the world and the intentions of ambitious little men. And here I thought that on American Thanksgiving I was going to have a day off of the news! Sheesh!

Meanwhile in the good ol' USA Trump continues to hide, other than pardoning the turkeys named Cob and Corn and of course Michael Flynn this week! He also appeared for a 30 second speech to tout how great the stock market was and how it was all due to him but in actuality was in reaction to the formal signing of the GSA form that gives Biden the money and access to transition. The US is seeing around a million cases every week and is right on track for total disaster by Christmas. People are flying and driving all over for Thanksgiving, it's a disaster in the making!

We're Number One!!! A Pandemic Journal

      Well we did it Alberta, we have the highest cases in the country!!!!!!! Over the past 4 days we have had 5,180 cases, each day beating a new record! 1105 Thursday, 1155 Friday, 1336 Saturday and 1584 Sunday beating Ontario and Quebec who have 3.5 times the population. How did we get here? Bad government, just like all the jurisdictions led by despotic idiots in the US, Russia and Brazil, it's a theme we find emerging again and again. We are the only Province to not have mandatory mask measures as the Kenney government is scared the rural people will hate him for it. Calgary and Edmonton and some of the other cities put in mask mandates and by-laws back in the summer but this is apparently not working. I believe Kenney is such a Republican follower that he is likely imitating their route with the virus and we have seen how their approach is working terribly in the upper midwest for example. Kenney has been missing in action for quite a few weeks and was roundly criticized this weekend for being the only Premier to not make an appearance or public statement, instead hiding behind the milquetoast Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's top official on the virus. Do I trust these health spokespeople? On the science yes but on the politics no, can these dry medical people resist the political shenanigan's of Conservative politicians, I doubt it. There should probably be a new lockdown but it's not up to Hinshaw to call that. We need to shut down or the death rate at Christmas is going to be nuts! I wish we were having an election but that is 2 years away, who knows what will be the hot issue by then. My neighbours are all back to working from home now because god knows we need to preserve our lawyers and geologists! I was thinking schools should be shut down soon but more importantly they should be delayed after the holidays and everyone should get tested before returning and this seems like more of a plan than we heard from our Provincial government! Well, it's your reputation Kenney.

     The US continues down a deadly path, President not resigning and Thanksgiving week starting. Today we are seeing the footage of college kids flying home, 3 million flights today! Americans are generally bad enough at thinking about the public good now lets add 20 somethings to this equation and see how that goes, they say things like "this year has been so bad this is the only thing I have to look forward to" or "I want to go home and hug my parents" yes, so does the virus my dears!!!!! Such idiocy, the death rate will be hitting this Christmas, will they learn then? Probably not. All of the misinformation about the election is starting to hit, a couple of weeks ago 70% of Republicans thought Biden won this fair and square now 70% of them think it has been stolen! Even people around the world are starting to think this election was stolen or unfair no doubt spread by god damned Russians, gawd! I had to watch the Rudy Giuliani press conference held at the RNC office because we started hearing how incredibly nuts it was and it was! This legal team purported that voting machines were made in Venezuela and rigged by Hugo Chavez himself (who died in 2013) and that millions of votes for Trump were switched to Biden and then the spray on hair dye started running down both cheeks of Giuliani in a total shit show of insanity and still Republicans will not drop this shit! I would like to know where in the Constitution it says that the Majority Leader of the Senate gets to decide when transition begins? America looks like a bananas Republic right now.  I did make the connection that we have reached almost all fictional parallels of the movie Contagion now with the President disappearing. I remember writing earlier in this journal that we should be so lucky to have the President disappear and it has finally happened, he tweets nonsense every day but is golfing all the time and not making any public statements. I think twitter should close his account and if he has something to say come to a podium and say it, what a fucking little bitch coward! Such a giant fucking baby! All this as covid in the US also breaks records everyday, will these knuckleheads ever learn??? The best news I heard recently is that all this election tampering by the President and individual electors and even the nuts bitch at the GSA could be breaking federal laws by interfering in the vote, turns out all this stuff is against many federal statutes and they could all be charged with several offences!

Suckers And Losers, A Pandemic Journal

      2 weeks after the US election finds many of us infuriated, Trump refuses to step down, covid is raging, Biden seems tepid, we want him to take some action, waiting 70 days or whatever the fuck it is for the inauguration is torture! Trump is trying every means possible to steal this election, fortunately his dip shit legal team lead by Giuliani is achieving nothing and is apparently today so "bonkers and bananas" that the networks won't air his presser, their words not mine. The theory that Trump is doing this to raise money for his 2024 Presidential bid makes a lot of sense or at least raise money for his very expensive habits in general. Before the election we learned Trump called service members "suckers and losers", he has no concept of  non transactional relationships or motives and also asked why would people serve their country? why would America help allies? even "who were the good guys in WWII" all credibly sourced and even reported on FOX news at the time. I'm afraid this is what he thinks of everyone who is probably not his immediate family. We know that Trump sent out no less than 200 fundraising emails during the last 2 weeks of this not giving up which makes all of his supporters suckers and losers, if Republican voters weren't such dotards they might read the fine print that only a small portion of their donation would actually go toward any 2024 campaign, like 5% and I'm sure Trump would find a way to take that portion too! Every single person going along with this asshole is a sucker and loser, covid is reaching such overwhelming dimensions that even 87 year old Republican Senator Chuck Grassley came down with a case stalling any further passing of conservative judges, it's all the Senate is doing in this period. I hope a bunch of them die, clear the place out, most of these old coots have no business in government anymore, retire, have a nice life, sheesh! I just read a part of my last post where I was hopeful republican whoever from Oklahoma would press for transition, it was a lie, it was rescinded later that day, see a Republicans' word is shit and should be trusted by no one ever. I guess I was a sucker and loser for believing this fucker for one second!? Beside covid running so rampant it is killing 1,000 Americans a day Trump is also pulling troops from Afghanistan effective 5 days before inauguration, even old Mitch McConnell is against it, it will embolden the Taliban endanger whatever allies are left there (an internet search comes up with nothing on what actual troops from what countries are still there but I will guess Australians as they have always sucked that American cock) and cause chaos which I'm sure is his main goal. It's just infuriating to comprehend the damage this one angry rich asshole can wreak on world order right now.

     Today we are learning that Trump is personally calling electoral college members and holding a White House meeting with Michigan electors in a bid to sway electoral college voters, it's just so slimey and beyond the pale for a normal democratic country to behave this way! How can we ever trust Americans ever again? But wouldn't China and Russia love that? Gawd this is infuriating!!!!

     We have been learning about so many weird and small administrative positions that hold a lot of power yet in normal times are never heard from, one such position is the GSA the Government Service Agency. The GSA is a administrative job and their job is to sign the transition papers so the incoming government can have access to money and space to transition. Right now the GSA is held by some Trump appointee, an obese middle aged woman who looks like any Cathy from any office anywhere, someone who handles your car insurance and watches Police dramas and Lifetime Christmas movies in her off times. I was really mad at this character for a while as she cited the 2000 election as some kind of precedent but now I feel it unfair for such a dupe to take heat for the asshole in chief and all the other Republicans who refuse to concede. One of them is the HHS Secretary, hiding behind this woman and the small technicality of signing the transition papers, he could meet with the Biden team on covid related matters if he wanted to but they don't, they don't care if Americans die which makes all of you suckers and losers for letting this bull shit go one one more minute! People are getting angry all over the media which must echo the populace I just wonder if something is going to snap soon? I am furious and I don't even live there what is it like for actual Americans?

    So all of this pissing and moaning about the election being stolen by Trump is really having an effect on Republican voters now over half of them believe the election was stolen so it works because Trump knows there is one born every minute.

     I know that Americans love Thanksgiving the most, more than Christmas and the 4th of July and I believe most of them will ignore reality and science and spread and get covid more than any other time of year, the real kicker will come as the death rate follows usually 3 to 4 weeks later which should be right around Christmas! Will they learn then? probably not. No one is even talking about Black Friday yet, obviously this stupid tradition should not even be entertained as an idea right now but lets see how smart Americans are, I'm willing to take bets right now! lol

Republicans Drowning In Hypocrisy, A Pandemic Journal

      So 9 days after the US election Trump still has not conceded nor will cooperate with any of the norms and traditions of transition in the worlds oldest and most important democracy. In fact the giant man-baby "president" has gone into hiding and as Sarah Haines pointed out on the View recently he has spent more time in hiding than when he had corona and was supposed to be in quarantine! It makes for a strange news cycle as we are missing the daily deluge of total bullshit statements from president bleach drinker, I didn't even watch the full round of political shows that I usually do last night because there is not much happening. Today we have one of the Republican Senators from Oklahoma saying that he will take on getting Biden the Security clearance that is needed in a transition period, remember when transition was fucked up during the 2000 debacle then 9/11 happened? Yeah, it's a recommendation from the 9/11 commission that incoming Presidents be briefed ASAP on security issues. Remember when Republicans used to be all about National Security????? Ahhh those were the days, where are those guys, oh what? most of them are still in the Senate you say? Well that is the first of many little hypocrisy's with these jerks want a few more????

     We have seen many old clips of outgoing and incoming presidents, pleasant exchanges between bitter partisan rivals, Bush/Clinton, Bush/Obama, Obama/Trump all occurring at the same time after the election that we are at now at the White House because normal people used to know that the transfer of power is about governing not politics! Obama welcomed Trump to the White House knowing full well there was controversy circling about Russian interference and Trumps weak claim to the presidency in a technical but not popular mandate. And what is this asshole doing for Biden? Nothing. Hiding, tweeting, probably rage eating and breaking the Golden Rule which is DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OTHERS DO UNTO YOU but what do you expect from this satanic piece of shit? Same for the majority of Republicans who are so afraid of losing the Trump base they are also holding up this transfer and thus endangering America and maybe her allies too, who knows???? They are all total hypocrite assholes, McConnell posing with newly elected Republicans because they can trust those election results but not the Democrat ones? Or my favourite, Ivanka Trump tweeting gleefully that they had won the senate seat in Alaska right after the Trump side was arguing that the "media does not declare election winners" doh! Stupid hypocrisy once again! The most delicious part of all of this is the public machinations about Trumps feelings, he's not ready to accept, we have to ease him into reality etc. are you fucking kidding me!?!??!?! These are the same people who would call anyone a snowflake when we lamented Hillary's loss or were scared about what this buffoon was going to do. Give me a fucking break!!!! You idiots were being led by the biggest snowflake in history and I might say that Trump followers are also the biggest snowflakes in history too, hiding behind facebook comments, guns, and stupid conspiracy theories! As for Republicanism in general, maybe they think we are all 20 years old or cannot remember the last 30 years or something? My point is that Republicans loved the war in Iraq, if anyone questioned it they were labelled treasonous, and then there was all the love for the troops, it was all about the troops all the time, I remember it well. Enter Trump who called Iraq a "stupid war" and those serving "suckers and losers" so please how the hell can Republicans go around defending this asshole? In a nutshell I am saying Republicans backed the war like fanatics until Trump came along and then they didn't want any more wars at all. It would seem Republicans in general were for the war before they were against it! I just don't understand it as a political party anymore, they don't make any sense, all they want is power which is the complete opposite of all the spreading democracy around the world stuff they used to talk about. It seems more like they are suffering an identity crisis at the least and a credibility crisis at worst. I looked up recently the winning margins of Presidents and some pundits have also pointed out that Republicans have lost the popular vote since Clinton in 92 so if democracy does not work for you then attack democracy I guess? And this is what they have been busily doing, undoing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, creating obstacles for voting, voter ID laws, limiting early voting, even getting rid of Pews to the Polls because too many black people vote that way. It's despicable and no that is not something to be proud of you Trump voting ingrates! When democracy is against you attack democracy, this is what the Republican party line truly is!

     Saturday we were "treated" to another post election appearance of the comedian Dave Chappelle on Saturday Night Live, many people call him a genius, I think he's a not funny asshole. I remember his SNL appearance after Hillary lost it was quite off-putting for me I thought his attitude was something like you can't trust stupid white people and all of you brought this on yourself because you are stupid white people, am I supposed to think that is funny insight? George Carlin had insight, you sir do not. There is also his use of "nigger" as in black people who are stupid are niggers to this guy, he said it several times, sorry I do not find this funny. The n-word was pulled out of extinction by rappers in the 1990's and came into use probably in the early 2000's, my generation never used the word I thought we would never hear it again until black people started using it in the US. It's sooooo 20 years ago, is it really funny? Really? Anyway this year he did some really long intro, smoking (who the fuck smokes?) lambasting the audience for "being too woke to laugh" how about being in total fucking shellshock after this stupid election to laugh??? Or maybe you're just not funny dude? Near the end he said remember how bad we all felt last time and think about how bad the Trump people feel today. Yeah, go fuck yerself! There is feeling bad your political side lost but when Trump came to power it was more than just aww shucks we'll get 'cha next time, no, people had very serious concerns they would be affected by terrible policy and were justified in being scared. Look what Trump did to so many minorities, banning some (but not all) Muslim immigrants, removing the right for trans people to serve in the military, separating families (babies too) at the border possibly forever, attacking in general women's and minority rights, encouraging nazis and white supremacists, getting rid of environmental rules and regulations, trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act in the middle of a Pandemic! and finally fucking up the covid response so much that Dr's Without Borders may have to enter the US like so many "shithole" countries.  In contrast a Biden win will not take away rights of Trump people or effect their lives in any negative way except for their stupid sensibilities. So I'm sorry rich black man who thinks he is smarter than everyone else, like smoking won't kill you as it has so many before, I don't like your capitulation and white wash of the worst 4 years in  living American history.      As for the pandemic it's escalating off the charts everywhere. In El Paso there is such a surge in cases and deaths that they had to bring in freight trucks to hold the bodies. All over the US the pandemic is causing chaos in hospitals and it's not even winter yet. Alberta and Manitoba are out of control right now and aside from whatever social conditions are causing a surge I wonder if it is the return of winter causing this? While we watch Americans party in the streets in boob-tubes and shorts with Bidens win we were having a blizzard by then, winter is set in here and our rates are going nuts, of course it does not help we have Kenney a wanna-be Republican who is very hesitant to close businesses again, all these conservatives are cagey about closing the economy, rich people can stay in quarantine poor people can risk their lives serving them I guess, that's how they roll folks! I just shudder to think how the US will get thru Thanksgiving, their favourite holiday, and also thru Christmas. Christmas is going to be a hard one for everyone I think, people love stupid traditions and it will kill us I am sure! I just don't know how the US is going to survive the next few months with President in hiding, too scared and hurt to do anything of worth, all he does is worry about his own feelings, well you Trump voters deserve it but the rest of you don't and then there is the world economy, again, the last time we had a Republican in office the world economy crashed too, will Americans ever notice this little pattern???

     We are still getting news about who got covid at the Presidents election night party, today it's Cory Lewandowski but earlier this week we heard Ben Carson got it as well as the Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, all because of stupidity, they all deserve it and I hope it's serious, sorry. They don't care about the public so no one should care about them. Maybe we'll be having some openings in the Senate sooner than thought? We can only hope!

America Votes, A Pandemic Journal

     Well only 4 days after the election we have a winner and it's Joe Biden! Everything is just stupider and takes longer in this pandemic. Election night was a little startling to begin with, the wave of anti-Trump sentiment did not really play out in fact it may have made even stupider people vote for him. We all went to bed that night knowing Biden had won the "Blue Wall" the Great Lake states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota and may have flipped Georgia and Arizona and Nevada would take forever to count, Biden was stuck at 253 and Trump 213 electoral votes, this would go on the rest of the week until the Keystone state Pennsylvania could count, truly with 20 electoral votes this was key in any presidential bid, Trump won it in 16. Turns out most Democrat voters were scared of covid and voted by mail and absentee methods which many states count last because America is full of stupid rules and conventions. Trump was telling all his voters to vote in person knowing many of those votes would be counted first making him look like he had the lead and in his not secret plan would claim victory on Tuesday night and hopefully stop the counting. It didn't work out that way. The media refused to declare a winner and everyday we would wait for more count to come in from especially PA but also AZ and NV as Trump could sweep all the remaining states including GA and win but no one really believed that would happen. I remember James Carville saying in his delightful Louisiana accent democrats would handily win PA and probably AZ too, he was right! (although we are still counting AZ now) The weather here was really warm all week so instead of watching the same news about micro vote counting I could get out and do some fall garden projects, most nights were spent drinking and half watching MSNBC for any breaking news. It was like the slowest 4 days in Earth history, Wednesday morning I was pretty upset so many people voted for Trump and Democrats lost some seats in Congress and did not flip the seats of the evil Mitch McConnel and Trump cocksucker Ms Lindsay Graham, as time wore on slowly the news became more hopeful Biden would win. Wednesday, Thursday, maybe Friday night we would have a result!?!?! Nope! Finally Saturday came and as I lay in bed thinking should I get up and check the news I could hear all our phones chiming which I took as good news, it was news alerts of course and the news was good!!!! It was around 930am here when I turned on the TV to people celebrating in the streets all over America, it had been finally decided for Biden, Ding Dong the fucking old wicked bastard witch is dead! or at least his stupid presidency is! To pass the time on Tuesday night I was planning on making some kind of sign for when Trump was declared the loser, I made, out of paper, letters that spelled out "Hallelujah Bigly" and eventually had to tape them to my front window as we were experiencing a blizzard by Saturday. Let me just say that hallelujah is such a stupidly long word filled with Ls, luckily cutting the letter L is pretty easy and there are 4 of them in this phrase. I also have a squishable Trump head which I posed with a hammer crushing it ready to text to all my friends and family. Most reactions to my creativity were kinda meh, people just don't like funny things anymore I guess, my sister in BC didn't even know "Bigly" was a famous Trumpism, what a dummy, who doesn't know that!?!?! She said I haven't been paying attention to news for the past few months, the past few months? This became a thing when Trump first came in 4 years ago and has been made fun of ever since. This is why I have so much trepidation moving to BC, so much insular know-nothingness among the population.

     Surpise, surprise Trump is refusing to concede! Who knew? Everyone maybe? It's a disgrace to democracy and America herself but we don't expect anything less from President dip shit! In what I think is the most comedic and fittingly stupid end to this stupid administration Giulliani the presidents "lawyer" tweeted he would be making a statement at the 4 Seasons Philadelphia turned out he meant the 4 Seasons Landscaping company located in some industrial area in Philly between a Crematorium and a Sex Shop called Fantasy Island where he proceeded to rant about nuts conspiracy theories in front of a garage door with Trump election signs taped on it. Truly a nuts, stupid, and fitting end to this pathetic sinking ship.

     Breaking news today is that a vaccine looks promising sending the stock market up, Trump fires Secretry of Defence Mark Esper because he supported renaming bases and or Trump is planning a military coup, we'll see, he's been mostly silent and angrily golfing all weekend. There are still, of course, Trump followers trying to cause trouble and protesting all over, when reporters ask them questions they have no answers, my favourite is the young guy complaining about counting mail in ballots, the reporter says Trump asked his supporters to vote in person and those have been counted, he has no answer. Some Republicans like Lindsay Graham are resisting but this is a losing battle, even George W. Bush is telling people to accept the vote, at this point resisting math is futile!
