I have not been paying attention to the world as weather has been sunny and warm and there is much to do in the yard. Tuesday alone found me painting the front railings/portico, dismantling the fire pit and chainsawing out the lilac that grew there for 15 years, earlier in the week I cut down a large wild Manitoba Maple and another large stump that I couldn't remove for years, or didn't care to! Just got a new chainsaw and wanted to try it out, so handy! Buying things is certainly different these days, we opted for curbside pickup at Home Depot, you order online and then they contact you when you can pick it up, it actually took overnight to get our order thru so I was not too impressed. You can go in the store but there was a lineup as they count the people in and out, I was surprised (or maybe not) to see random elderly couples coming out with some seed potatoes or some such small items, uuuhhh number one please limit your visit to only one family member and two if you are over 65 don't go out or at least take some precautions, oh well, old folks don't give a hoot about this virus, let them pass maybe we can change our stupid right wing governments!? So, when you arrive you simply park in a pickup spot call the number and in 10 minutes someone will come out with your stuff, I would do this at anytime! It's a pretty good system except the store would miss out on impulse sales, and I am super vulnerable to impulse sales especially for plants so maybe this is a good system for people who shop too much!?!?!? I deposited a cheque at the bank now this is a wholly different situation, when I pulled up to the drivethru teller a Somali woman was standing there waiting for the machine, it's not kosher, it's like walking thru the McDonalds drivethru, so she explains in a really nuts accent and tempo that the lineup is so long and all she needs is some cash, number one most stores are not accepting cash and number 2 just use debit, what are you making a drug deal or something? When I drive around the building there is a large line all the way thru the parking lot, so many Chinese customers do not seem to understand internet banking, nuts! Use the internets my friends!!!
In the news, most nights we are drinking and eating way too late, I catch a little news each day tho but not watching regularly really improves my mood as does the summer weather! I will try to recapture the events as best as possible!
Trump makes the claim that we could put ultraviolet light inside the body and/or inject the body with cleaners like bleach lysol etc, all while the medical advisor, the woman Dr. with all the scarves and big dresses, she is just shrinking and staring ahead as she sits listening to President shit for brains. It is likely his worst moment as President and probably won't be forgotten, it's just too stupid! Later he claims it was sarcasm but that is a ridiculous claim, we can watch the footage you know!
Still a small faction of Trump kooks and nuts are protesting to open their states up again and it is even creeping into Alberta. I don't know why but the most right wing nuts always look like men you would meet at a bath house, you know, like they would be more at home in the gay bar than at a right wing rally, like masculine gays, the most attractive gays around! Anyway I think these people are fucking nuts and I wish them well when they cause a second more deadly outbreak! So stupid!
The numbers; World 3.2 million, USA just over 1 million, Canada 52,069, Alberta 5,165, Calgary 3,520, we still have so many more cases than Edmonton at 489 cases so suck it losers!!! We are clearly the bigger and more important city! lol
There are still many corona cases in meat packing plants especially in the US but Trump has ordered them back to work it is just another foolish move by this dim wit idiot man child, the food chain could be affected and then how will all those fat Americans sit on a patio in Georgia and eat a hamburger or hamberger as Trump spelled it recently!? I still think there is more disaster awaiting the US this summer. Canada may be bending the curve but we are a much more obedient bunch who also understand science (to more of a degree than dip shit Americans!)
It's hard to care tho, I can't make the world listen to sense, do as you will, I wash my hands of this! There is so much to do outside, flowers to look at, plants to take care of. Just ask yourself why it is mainly politicians who are pressuring all of us to open everything back up, it's not coming from the public!

A Pandemic Journal, From Bad To Worse!
I guess it's Wednesday today, it's hard to keep track sometimes. Finally some warm weather allowed me to get out and get some spring maintenance done in the garden. I am starting 3 more trays of plants as I just don't know what will be available for sale this year? Now I see it as a challenge, the Covid Garden, all home grown! My neighbours are trying to plant grass seed, I told them it is way too early and won't likely grow but I forgot they are also trying to sell their house, so weird to me! They can move into a condo they own but who would want to be in a small apartment during isolation? Not me, I think they are nuts, in so many ways!, and they should just axe this plan, and besides the last few people to view the house just look like uptight millennial rich idiots, there goes the neighbourhood!
Right after Gord and I agreed they should bring back 1970's variety shows they brought back a form of variety show, musical acts! Saturday had the One World event, broadcast on all the networks and live streaming on all the platforms a variety of musical acts performing from home. So many famous faces like Lady Gaga, who organized this, to Paul McCartney, The Stones, Elton John, Celine, and many more! It was not a fundraiser per se but a call to support local organizations and a big boost to the WHO, it was basically a Fuck You to Trump, too funny! We saw lots of footage of nurses and Dr's and other feelgoodery, one thing we notice these days is all the pictures of health care workers with literally raw noses from the facemasks, it's the new mark of the beast I guess! Apparently we get a Canadian version of this concert series this weekend, they really are good, it seems so real and heartfelt to see the stars in their home studios. Last night we watched the Grammy Tribute to Prince, pretty good, I thought it could go either way but it was fun, I think it was put together by Sheilia E. as she was in every single number! And good for her! I would not have this amount of energy even 20 years ago and she is older than me! One act that got me real good was the Bangles lead with the Coldplay guy singing Manic Monday, it made me tear up as now it seems like a relic of the past when weekends and workweeks meant something, right now there are no Manic Mondays as we don't have workdays anymore! Awww, remember when we had Mondays to hate!?

In Canada the worst mass shooting in our history happened on Sunday in Nova Scotia, I can't tell you anything about it as all I hear are emotional impact stories and little facts of events, it looks like police bungling. Apparently the local mounties thought they would release info on Twitter not Amber Alert, while a gunman is on the loose! Lets see they have 90,000 Twitter followers in NS a Province of 900,000! No wonder we don't know what happened I'm not sure the cops know either!
The US just gets stupider of course, the southern states are trying to open things up and I think it is foolish as hell! I wonder if they think all the black people will get it? We are learning that minorites especially the black community are getting covid at a much higher rate probably because of their service jobs. It's so maddening and now I am running into these people on Facebook all the time, pushing their garbage, following Trump right into history! Yep your white privilege and status will not protect you from the virus dummies!
More meat packing covid infections, both in Canada and the states, now it is a chicken plant in BC but also a bigger outbreak in the US that could affect meat supplies. This is why if we open things up it may cause bigger problems we are not thinking of such as we won't have anyone to work for us, pick our vegetables, fix our cars, be cashiers etc. My mom said on the phone "well they have so many foreigners working in those places", she also will not accept that the Calgary Health Zone is not the entirety of Southern Alberta, she thinks the high rate of covid in Calgary means the entire south of the province! Yes, it has always been like this! Why let simple facts get in the way!? And how are those local numbers? Well we have 71% of the cases in Alberta right now! Calgary 2,204, Alberta 3,095, Canada 38,413, the US +829,000 and worldwide +2.6 million. I would still like to know why the numbers in Calgary are so high!?!?
I wore a dust mask to the grocery store recently and I hated it, it causes your glasses to fog up and makes your face really hot and sweaty! I was barely cut out to study sculpture and I am definitely not cut out to be a nurse! Face protection is a pain in the ass!
The price of oil dropped to negative territory on the markets this week, my neighbours were in a panic thinking they will lose their jobs, I told them to have a back up career many years ago. I think it went to -17$ which means companies are losing millions, oh well maybe all the maritimers who moved here will move back!? Gas remains at 59.9 cents/l, what will happen to the budget of Alberta? Why do we still need Kenney as Premier? Why should I cry a river for oil companies?
7 covid cases in Wisconsin linked to the forced in person vote, told ya so! Apparently Republicans thought Democrat voters would be suppressed because they are smart and believe science and would want to stay away and thought Republicans would get out and vote! Turned out Republicans lost by 20% points, the hate for Trump is stronger than the fear of covid! Fair warning!
Also turns out that the masks Alberta received are really shoddy and do not form to the face allowing for many gaps. So the ones we sent to Ontario and BC were the good ones? I think it's scandalous but our media is a piece of shit locally so don't expect to hear anything about it again!

A Pandemic Journal, Lets Go Crazy!
How long have we been in quarantine now? I don't know maybe a month? Feels longer but we have been having punishing weather too. Some are doing OK with it (quarantine) and others maybe not so much! There is a right wing push in the US to open the economy back up again, it is insane but who else on Earth would be this stupid other than Americans? Yesterday a large protest in Michigan by these nuts marching around and blocking roads with their cars, with Confederate flags, holding up Dr's and nurses from getting to work. It's just stupid but we expect more especially if FOX news gets this crap moving. All they will accomplish is making the Pandemic longer and economic damage worse! Everyday Trump makes insane comments at these 2 hour long press events, it's a waste of everyone's time and there are calls to stop reporting this nonsense. It's impossible to follow every stupid moment of this but basically he keeps trying to reach for power only to find he has none! Earlier he claimed he can force the states to open basically claiming the power of a monarch, it's utterly nuts and after a day of push back and the Governors saying uhhh no he retreated on this idea. Recently he is still pushing, now for a May 1st, opening of some states and some like Lindsay Graham are going along with this. Watching this stuff on the political talk shows just has me yelling all night in bed at the TV! Nothing is the same anymore, I used to listen to the MSNBC shows, play games on my tablet and eventually drift off to sleep now I am in full scream mode and this is no way to live life, I have to avoid the Trump shit show, it can't be healthy! It is just so frightening and sad to watch the richest and most powerful country on Earth bungle this so badly! They cannot find a way to fairly support working class people without also benefiting the rich and corporations too, it's all so corrupt. Then listen to their blithering idiot of a President who is only worried about his reelection and himself and his image in history, he is the living example of the Dunning-Kruger Effect, being so stupid or so bad at something you lack the self criticism to see how bad and stupid you really are. It's like watching the fall of Ancient Rome or something, battered by disease yet so corrupt and led by insane leaders the running of the country became impossible. Is that what happened to Rome? Something like that with more Vandals and Visigoths I think.
It's weird to see images of the "Before World", crowds, airports, happy people without masks. Credible studies are coming out saying the world may not be back to normal until 2022, 2 years from now! No sporting events, concerts, weddings, funerals, flights, how will we have an airline industry or professional sports, the last one I don't give a shit about but I have no smart answers for any of these questions! Trump and his band of idiot followers can live in their stupid fantasy world (to our peril) but most of us are probably going to be more cautious when it comes to contact with large numbers of people. It's funny how quickly it has changed in my mind but I am not eager to get on an airplane or bus or attend concerts, the opera, or go to a restaurant any time soon. Nothing will be safe until there is a vaccine which may or may not happen or we have reliable treatments, this is the new world we live in now. How will people live in a place like New York City? I don't know.
What will this summer be like with no weddings, The Stampede, fireworks, all the festivals?, you shouldn't even be in a park really, it's going to be a drag but we are all in this together throughout the world.

The outbreak here is not as large but what the hell is with meat packing? It is placing concerns on the meat supply in Canada and the US.
Another area where we are having the same problems as the US is old folks homes, a large death count in a New Jersey home found some 17 bodies piled into a small morgue built for 4 bodies, yeesh! Similarly many of the deaths in Canada are in similar places but hey you build an industry around making money and not care and this is what happens, these places are corporations not public services!
Dallas TX sees massive lineups for the food bank, people are out of money already and this is only the beginning! Reminds me of the movie Contagion a little!
I was just thinking that we cannot have a commemoration/funeral for Gords dad this summer like we planned, it just seems like a really bad idea right now. As usual I am ahead of the curve, no one has thought of this yet, I don't want to do this right now!
I saw a segment on our news from some dickhead Millennial saying some shit about we have to live our best lives , stay positive, yada yada. He says we should not come out of this crisis as obese alcoholics, well fuck you! i went into this as an obese alcoholic and I will come out one!!!!

A Pandemic Journal, What's The Buzz?
Listened to at least 3 versions of Jesus Christ Superstar this weekend so I always have a problem getting the songs out of my head! This is why we only listen to it once a year. What's the buzz tell me what's a happenin' is one earworm, there are many! I watch the news almost daily but cannot tell you much, there are some major events from time to time, new policies, new deaths etc , but mostly it's just a bunch of feel-goodery and I change the channel, I have always hated feel-good stories they are a waste of time! The weather is just a rollercoaster these days but Easter was super windy and cold with snow, windchill must have been at least -10 Saturday and Sunday, jeeze! We cooked a ham, it was awesome! a perfect blend of scalloped potatoes, hot mustard and cooked greens with sweet Easter bread, so good!
So what are the numbers? As of Tuesday April 14th the world total is 1.9 million, US is at +598,000, Canada +26,000, Alberta 1732, Calgary 1114, still very high in the city with most deaths occurring at one old folks home, what do we call them now? Care Centres? Cripes! Remember when Trump wanted to open the US up for business by Easter? well that didn't happen! It seems most people even our knucklehead cousins in the states know this virus is dangerous and wish to self isolate! Things will not be getting back to normal soon, or ever! Who knows? Yesterday Trump went on a stupid rampage saying he has the power to make the states do whatever he wants, it's just another line of complete stupidity from this dipshit, uuuhhh no he doesn't, are you new to America??? It's all rather rich after years of Republicans yelling "States rights" all the time. For whatever reason the American media is saying that the curve may be flattening (ie the cases of covid are lessening) but I think they are being too positive, it may be flattening in NY and New Jersey but there are so many other regions of the country, it won't be flattening anytime soon. Now, looking at the graph for Canada it would appear that our curve is flattening but we are in a very different situation than the US.
I heard that the U of A is going to conduct tests on the Trump-touted drug chloroquine, it sounds like it needs more explanation and I have many questions such as why are we testing this BS idea that came right out of Trumps asshole??? Another waste of money from Kenney? I just don't trust the process of how this happened as much as I don't trust how Alberta has so much PPE and other medical supply that we can share it with BC, Ontario and Quebec! It's all too fishy to me!
There is talk of a quick test to see if we have antibodies to the virus but the story I saw about it had so much technical problems I couldn't watch it, this is the new style of TV now, bad skype connections!
Saturday Night Live attempted to do a show with the cast doing small bits from home, it wasn't very funny, same with Bill Mahr. If the #metoo movement didn't kill comedy this virus sure did! It makes one wonder if the world will ever be the same again? Saw an expert saying we may never have large gatherings again which made Gord say maybe we shouldn't build the new arena? And as usual he is probably right! I think I'm going to send this question to the dummies at City Hall!

A Pandemic Journal, Pre Easter Madness
The weather is still so up and down and mostly on the cold side, I passed a house where they are counting the days with paper cut outs pasted in the window, "Day 25" is says but it is actually close to the amount of time the weather took a cold turn for the worse! It feels like it has been cloudy and snowy for at least 25 days! It's almost worse than the pandemic itself. I hear people are bored and complaining about being shut in in California and I just want to say oh really!?!?!? We have had cloud and snow and 20 degrees below normal since end of March, cry me a fricken river! At elast you have some greenery to look at and probably sunshine too? Cripes! We have had a few days of sun, yesterday and today are nice but back to cold and snow for Easter tho, as so often happens, why has god forsaken us? I always ask. I did notice how insanely blue the sky is tho, it is amazing and you think about all the cars and airplanes that are no longer in use, you see the stories of Barcelona or Los Angeles experiencing clear blue skies, like this hasn't happened in living memory, since before the 1950's I imagine, maybe earlier? I wonder if weather will approach normal this summer? That would be different, it is either unprecedented heat with forest fire smoke or unprecedented cold with rain all summer, it's global warming and pollution in general I fear. Anyway, I did see one lone Robin in the park on Monday, more will be here soon, and that is a few weeks later than normal but it has been cold all over Western North America this spring. Tuesday was back to cloud and snow so we missed the largest moon of the year, the Super Pink Moon, it seems to have changed our weather though as sometimes full moons do, at least for now!
I had to go to my moms on Tuesday, she was giving me my inheritance, a nice little nest egg that I will gladly accept! I thought I would try the Superstore down that neck of the woods, I hate the layout of that store but caters to my white privilege unlike my nearby NE store! They say on signage to limit the number of people you bring as they are limiting the number of people in the store, they also wipe every cart with a lysol wipe when you go in. There are more things available and signs that say you can only buy so many of this product. Check out takes forever, we all have to stand 6 feet apart so the line goes for half a mile down one aisle! I see my friend Maki, I was worried about this, running into someone I know, it always happens in the south, it could be someone from high school or god knows who, I seem to know a lot of people in that part of Calgary. I barely recognize her because of her face mask, we have a nice conversation but it holds up my grocery packing which affects the whole line, sorry! I would hate if someone did this in front of me! My mom is enjoying isolation it seems but who would know from the regular assortment of dust and junk and cookies piled high on the kitchen table? We talk of the usual things, my ancient Aunts who are older than my 85 year old mom and all take this pandemic nonsense with a grain of salt. Oh boi! One of them has bad COPD how will that go??? Conversation usually turns to the History channel and all the alien theories she sees on there, she is currently fascinated by the "Americans" building a secret city 7 miles underground! Wow I was certain human engineering could not go that deep into the Earths crust!? There is also talk, because my Uncle was just in town getting some heart issues looked at, that there are too many women Dr.s! Apparently my mom is very offended by "these women trying to prove they are something", women like Haley Wickennheiser(SP?) who are uppity enough to go the Olympics and become a Dr.! My word what is this world coming to? It's almost as nuts as when she complained there were too many Black and White movies on TCM (Turner Classic Movies). Yep, I grew up with this! Her refrigerator is on the fritz, making a lot of noise so I pull it out and have a look, it is still really clean probably from my dad doing it a few years back before he died. I take the measurements in a mixture of imperial and metric, geeze, such a brain fog these days! I blame the gloomy weather.
In the news; it's always bad, who can even watch this stuff anymore? I still love American politics however and it breaks that Bernie Sanders is dropping out of the race making Joe Biden the Democratic nominee, it's about time really that we are all done with this nonsense! After watching Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and the Netflix series Mindhunter that featured an episode with Charles Manson I am reminded that the Sanders phenomenon is not unlike the Manson family! Not since the days of the Spahn Ranch have we seen a man whip up 20 somethings into such a religious frenzy! I never liked it, I know a cult following when I see one, the Trump people are just as bad! Why would you replace one cult following with another? I think Joe Biden will do well, as America enters a period of loss and mourning who better than Biden? He understands loss and can always find the right thing to say to people suffering! Trump on the other hand is anathema to empathy, lets see how that goes in this time! The former world is dying, everything may be different after all this.
In a disgusting display of partisan cruelty or insanity or madness the Republicans in Wisconsin, with the help of the Supreme Court, have decided to hold an election! In the times of social distancing, when no one is supposed to be out in a crowd bigger than 10 people. It is as if they hope democrats all die from this and are also hoping crowds are low so they can hold on to their Republican judges on the state level. A photo of one voter holds a sign that says "This is Ridiculous" it is, and criminal and immoral! Trump says in one of his stupid lucid moments (there have been a few) that if too many people voted Republicans would lose. Sheesh! He also said when asked about mail in ballots that it shouldn't be allowed because of fraud yet he just voted by mail in Florida. Yep, this is the kind of crap that goes on on a daily basis with this fucking idiot! I would say expect the same shit show for the November election, Republicans will be hoping that they can kill or expose Democrats to covid thru voting just out of spite, it's disgusting but not unheard of with this bunch! One awesome image from the Wisconsin vote is the Republican guy dressed in full medical gear with medical facemask saying to the media everything is fine, it's perfectly safe, cripes, just ignore the guy in full hazmat suit! A Pandemic Journal, Just Another Manic Sunday
While Saturday was surprisingly sunny and clear Sunday was back to cold and gloom, it was only -1 or so but felt -20. I spent the majority of the day on the couch hugging Bella, Gord says we are acting like it's -20 and I say isn't it? The world seems to be relaxing it's sphincter a little, went for groceries on Saturday and found the store not very busy and also had toilet paper! They are limiting customers to one package only! The park was a little more normal as well, people still want to touch Bellas Frisbee and I was tempted to yell but didn't, it's just exhausting now.
I still wonder why it seems Calgary cases are escalating like crazy compared to the rest of the Province but we all seem to be increasing at the same rate, Calgary still double the rest of the Province today 1250 in Alberta, 774 in Calgary, there is a hot spot at one of the elderly care centres in the SW like what we have seen in Seattle and in Bobcageon Ontario, everyone remembers the Tragically Hip song with the name in it now!
Two of the cruise ships with Canadians on board have been allowed to dock off Florida, but not allowed off yet, the government will have to charter an airplane as they have done for other stranded tourists, one of these boats came from Chile as they were refused entry to every country along the way. Why are there so many cruise ships? It's just an awful industry, environmental terrorists if you ask me! I hope this industry dies out after this mess!
The ex Mayor of Gander Newfoundland has made a public statement that he is disappointed in Trumps attempt to stop shipments of medical masks to Canada. He was mayor during the 9/11 crisis when the small town of Gander sheltered over 6000 stranded air travelers which is the basis for the Broadway musical Come From Away. It's true, Canadians are very nice and accommodating but remember that we invented Hockey and have very long memories for those who have dissed us! If I ever hear another Canadian defend the asshole Trump again they may get a punch in the face! he would rather see us all dead, then who would buy all that American milk he wants to dump in our country? Such a dolt, is that how business works? And while we're on the topic of Newfoundland during 9/11 let me just state for the record and forever on the internet a most evil acquaintance of ours, Gillian Scott, a Scottish immigrant and neo conservative who when she found out I was no Bush supporter decided to derail and deride me at every turn, she also idolized Donald Rumsfeld, yeesh! I remember when I brought up the Gander events she said "so what? so we landed a few planes" it was disgusting and I think she should have her Canadian citizenship revoked but I will let the popularity of Come From Away stand on it's own and will be looking down on her and Rumsfeld one day as they enjoy the 7th layer of Hell! I will never forget you loser!
Speaking of losers, Trump continues to push this malaria chloroquine drug, actually interrupting Dr. Fauci so he couldn't speak against this nonsense in a press event. It has not been proven in any scientific basis and has killed one man so far when he tried to drink aquarium cleaner chloroquine phosphate, oh well, why don't all the Trump idiots go drink it and save us all from their stupidity!?
I also learned from the View today that the Surgeon General was a Trump ass kisser recently tweeting garbage like "Roses are red, violets are blue, this corona virus is no more dangerous than flu." I did not know this! It is disgusting as he is now saying this will be Americas Pearl Harbor, geeze! These Trump people will certainly go down in history with the likes of Rumsfeld and likely wind up in the same place! I know, I'm an atheist who likes the idea of Hell when convenient!
I still worry that Trump will declare a National Emergency and convince enough idiots that an election cannot be held this year but then there is an equal chance he could die from this too, we can only hope! the PM of the UK Boris Johnson is in hospital right now, not doing well. Also on Sunday we were treated to a rare Royal Speech from the Queen, it sounded like a war time rally, chin up better days are ahead! She is lucky that the virus hasn't spread to her inner circle as the Brits have acted like total fools during this pandemic! We still see footage of sun bathing Brits in parks now being sent come by police, they are like Canadians, as soon as the weather gets warm and sunny they freak out and lose all sense! You especially see this in a similar rainy place like Vancouver but it kinda happens across the country, it's our northerly latitude I guess!?

A Pandemic Journal, Trump Tries Killing Canadians
The vortex of arctic air might be leaving us, today is wall to wall sunshine so it feels much warmer but still has a very chilly wind. It's nice to see the sun after a week of cloud and light constant flurries, it's my version of hell actually, cold cloudy snowy, yeesh! Friday I didn't want to go out at all and took the dog for only a 20 minute run, I watched You Tube most of the day. Saturday is much nicer we went for our normal walk in the park and today so many less wandering idiots, mostly dog walkers and only one jogger. The CDC in the states says wearing a mask may be the best idea as the virus is spread thru talking/breathing etc. so I think breathing as hard as possible while running thru crowded parks cannot be good, I was thinking this last weekend, it's just a bad idea! Jogging has never been a good idea I don't know why people do it at all?
News bits; Heard last week that Sweden is keeping things normal but trying to protect the most vulnerable, this is probably not working if you look at the stats. I know, I thought this in the early days, back when we were in Saskatchewan, like why halt the economy? But we know so much more now like covid can affect anyone of any age and a lot of the unaffected are just carriers, it's just such a contagious disease!
Global News tells us that in the early days Canada and the US had a similar rate of infection, 10 to 1 which reflects our population difference, right now infection rates are 22 to 1 compared to Canada.
Trump continues to be a total idiot of course, contradicting the CDC, they say to wear masks in public, Trump says to wear a scarf and of course he will also not wear a mask! The biggest story of the day is that Trump is "ordering" private company 3M to stop shipments of medical masks to Canada and Latin America, they are the continents supplier it turns out. Trudeau lightly threatens retaliation by saying a lot of nurses from Windsor work in Detroit and we don't want retaliation now do we? 3M says this decision would have humanitarian consequences and has no plans to stop shipments to other countries. Trudeau reminds the Americans that a lot of the raw materials from these masks come from Canada and backs down on retaliatory measures, keeping dialog open yada yada...I'm sure, judging from past performances, that we have not heard the last of this and Trump will be super pissed he can't order private companies to do things, they will be getting a bitchy tweet at 5 am I am sure! Why didn't Trump enact their version of the War Powers Act which allows him to direct companies to make things, respirators etc. ? Weird, you'd think this guy would want all the power in the world but he missed this one, oh well, don't give him any ideas now!
In local news Jason Kenney has decided to give 1.1 Billion fucking dollars to fund the Keystone XL Pipeline! In the middle of a Pandemic! Our news tries burying the story and everything is dwarfed by this stupid virus so who knows how this will fall out? This is OUR taxpayer money, going to a private oil company, next year a further 6 Billion for this pipeline, all this while cutting education and health care! In another "I told you so segment" we are learning that a clinic in one of the small towns around here is closing it's emergency department and losing some of it's doctors and scaling back hours, it is likely that more rural clinics like this will follow. The minister for health sent out some bitchy statement saying that nothing will change with health care and we will hire more Dr.s. Yeah OK, we'll see about that, anyone want to live in a province where winter lasts 10 months and is filled with stupid rednecks and they don't want to pay you?, lets see the world beat a path to Alberta! Idiots.
Trump has put Jared Kushner in charge of something about the virus, who knows what? He says earlier this week that stockpiles are not for the states they are for "us", no one knows what that means, us the Trump family?, us the White House?, it's stupid as usual, they need to have competent people in charge not the products of nepotism!
A lot of people online are "in love with Cuomo" the Governor of NY, and why not he does great informative press conferences. Stephen Colbert wins the week with saying that a certain number of Americans are "Cuomo-curious" and just finding out that they are "Cuomo-sexual" I think it's hilarious! My favourite joke last week was Jimmy Kimmel saying that we either have to suffer being in quarantine for months or on the other hand might have the chance the meet Prince.
People are realizing that they have to cut their own hair now. I never thought of it either because I have been cutting my own hair for 30 or more years! And what of high maintenance women? Oh boi, what a pickle society is in now! I haven't been anywhere except grocery stores and the beer store so I worry about buying or shopping anywhere else, how do we buy things now? I'm not sure. The art supply store sent an email earlier that said they will organize curbside pick up, I imagine a lot of stores are doing something like this, but do I have to phone ahead? I hate phoning!
I hope we are on to more spring weather now, it is god damned April, tomorrow is Palm Sunday, the sunshine has me on a slightly less angry bent today so I hope that continues. I did spend two days cleaning the basement and could spend about 5 more! Maybe we'll get around to the rest soon?

There is an unprecedented blob of cold air circulating over top of Alberta bringing us highs in the -10s and constant cloud and light flurries, god damnit I hate living here! The cold will not leave us until maybe next Monday, it's almost Easter for fucks sake! I always hope we will have a nice or normal spring but we only seem to get extreme cold most of the time, it feels like it's been shitty spring weather for the last 10 years. I talked to my mom this morning and she wants to argue that the weather isn't that bad and points to the many times it snowed in April, I tell her it's not an amount of snow issue, it's how god damned cold it is, sheesh!!! I have no problems with our Federal Government, they tell us it might be until July when we can maybe get back to normal. I think it won't be until a vaccine is invented that we can back to normal. Although if we can test who has antibodies maybe that will help in the future? The only thing bothering me is the public service message from the Government du Canada, it's on every channel all the time sometimes twice! I am so tired of it and often imitate the Chinese accent of Teresa Tam the nations public health official, so actually the Canadian government is responsible for making me a racist! Thanks? Our little prick of a Premier, Jason Kenney on the other hand is making me so angry I want to throw a brick thru my TV when I see the news! So, during a pandemic Alberta is going ahead with changes to Dr.s billing and investing 1 billion$ in the Keystone Pipeline, why not give money to a dying industry and oil companies when we should be focusing on this virus!?!?! I have been banned from Facebook for 5 days for calling Kenney a "fat little faggot" on a Huffpo article, whatever, I speak the truth! As for this Dr issue, of course our local media is burying the story but I have heard that it will disproportionately effect rural areas so I think go ahead! take your base for granted, always a great political move! The rates of covid in Alberta have surpassed BC! It used to be that BC was so much larger in population than Alberta but actually they are only about .5 million more, so actually that isn't great news for our numbers either. Currently Alberta has 871 cases with 521 in Calgary, we still have over 60% of Alberta's cases yet no one seems to be talking about this!
In a hopeful turn of events Vladimir Putin may have been exposed to the virus! We can only hope and pray this is the case and hope it takes the life of this piece of shit, the world would be a better place indeed!

Two problem states Florida and Texas have just enacted stay at home policies, it's unbelievable! Trump is picking fights with NY's Cuomo of course and helping Florida over the other more democratic states. There is talk of a Covid Commission like the 9/11 Commission but surprise surprise Republicans are reluctant and are still clinging to blaming China and now trying to blame the Impeachment for distracting the President, so, it's business as usual with those dimwits I guess! Texas is allowing an exemption for religious services, it's stupid and also beyond exasperating. A preacher has been put in jail recently for holding large services in the states and some Hasidic Jews in Quebec have become infected by attending a religious event in NY State, so dumb, like all religions, why are you people doing this? Is there new information that you must hear at church? No! Stay at home, god will forgive you I am sure, or do you want to meet him shortly? Jeeze! Florida is refusing two cruise ships to dock, they are carrying infected, mainly Europeans but the prick Governor Desantis doesn't want them to overwhelm their medical system and thinks they should go dock in the Bahamas. It's all evil and I thought against maritime law about helping ships in distress? This Desantis is such a Trump cock sucker he deserves whatever consequences are coming to him it's just too bad that maybe millions of grandmas and grandpas will die because of this idiot! The US, according to experts, is on the same track as Italy right now where the death rate is still very high! There are more and more minor celebrities and terrible stories of people dying from this virus, a few of them pretty young and seemingly healthy, a man in his 30's died in Alberta this week so watch out untouchable youths!
The cold weather is certainly keeping people at home, so I suppose that is one good thing about it. Another is that I have spent 2 days organizing and cleaning up the basement, think Grey Gardens crossed with an Ancient Egyptian tomb and you've got the picture, I am maybe half done and am exhausted, back breaking! I went to the liquor store today and see they have put up plexi glass barriers at the cashier, we will likely see more of this everywhere, I only go to two places, beer store and grocery store, I don't know what else is open these days and I don't need anything else! We spent last night drinking beer and making chicken and dumplings, it was kind of a blowout and I feel quite hungover this morning.
The Netflix series Tiger King is capturing everyone's imagination these days. We watched the first episode just to see and I must say I don't get it, don't really care, I just don't understand what sets off the youth these days, now get off my lawn! So while walking the dog yesterday I passed a young renting couple on our street taking pictures outside, the guy had a blond mullet and handlebar mustache, even the leg brace! I thought he was nuts until I realized they were probably doing it for fun, we're all doing our part to fight the virus it's just like WWII.! Generations in the future will look back at us and say can you imagine the sacrifice? They had to stay home and watch TV to save the world, order food in and wait for government cheques.
